I'm so beyond frustrated! IBS makes me feel like a cow. I decided last weekend I was going to start Fiber One for breakfast and salads at lunch. I feel I've been eating terribly lately. I'm on day four of Fiber One and salads. I look pregnant. I'm so bloated and "stuffed." My stomach is literally like a dome. I usually have a "flatter" upper stomach with a pouch. It's all like one big bubble. Nothing has released. There is 14 grams of fiber in 1/2 cup of Fiber One. I've pretty much had a cup a day. That is 28 grams of fiber, without the salad. What gives? Is there too much fiber in me? I want to cry. My clothes are so uncomfortable. I feel like I put on 20 pounds overnight. I'm not having the Fiber One tomorrow. Any advice? What are probiotics and how do they work? I'm so tired of trying to keep my weight down with IBS. There is no consistency. I'm up and down. A few weeks ago I went everyday that week. Now I can't pay to go. Please help! I feel so unattractive!:(

Hi! I just posted on the IBS board. I've been very inconsistent with my dieting lately. I'm having a bad bought with IBS and I feel like I put on 20 pounds over night. What are probiotics and can they help me? Any really good ways to deal with bloating? I try to drink water but it's the last thing I want to put in me when I feel this way.

Hi Happy! I am so sorry you are feeling bloated and uncomfortable. I get this way from time to time with my IBS. Normally I eat a high fiber breakfast (fiber one or bran buds with an oatmeal granola mixed in with fruit and milk). This keeps me fairly regular in the morning. I think you might be overdoing the fiber however. I find I have to eat a very balanced diet the rest of the day or I too will start to feel very bloated and out of sorts. I try to eat only fruits, veggies, lean meats, whole grains, good fats and dairy - period. If I try to get some protein, healthy fats, and carbs at every meal, I am able to manage the IBS-C very, very well. I eat small meals 5-6 times per day. If I get out of balance or start to junk out on bad foods, I will pay for in the way you do. I keep a daily food journal too. Hope this helps! jrose
