I lost all of the hearing in my left ear very suddenly 10 days ago. The doctor put me on 80 mg of prednisone for four days, and surgically injected steroids directly into my ear during an operation. I don't have any dizziness or imbalance problems. But I find myself feeling with a very upset stomach nearly all day, and its especially worse in the mornings. I am told that this is a common side effect with oral or intravenous steroids, but when does it go away? I was also told there wouldn't be any side effects from the infusion (I had a second one today) - has anyone had a similar experience?

Sorry to hear your stomach is playing up so much. That musn't be good. I've had about 20 steroid injections into my ear and the only side effects I got were from the first two, after which I got bad ear pain. After that my doctor injected a different brand of steroid with a different makeup and since then the only effects have been good.

Thanks. I can't say for sure if it's the injections that are causing the side effects, or the steroids that I took orally and intravenously. The doctor says it's the oral and intravenous ones that are doing it to me. It's just that it's been 3 days since my last oral steroid dose, and still no relief from stomach problems. Hopefully things will get better soon.
