About 2 weeks ago I began having sore spots around my fingernails. The sores become black and eventually fall off, like a scab. They have reoccurred on the same nails, but also on different ones. Any ideas what could be causing these?

It is some sort of bacterial infection - at least that is what it sounds like. You need to see your doctor!
