my little guy ( 5 weeks old) went to the audiologist today. the audiologist stated that they did 3 of the 4 test to determine hearing loss and that the results were such that the 4th test needed to be done.
I think he has pretty severe hearing loss, Only startle response is to touch, none to sound. When he was in the sound booth, he only blinked his eyes to sounds.
Any recommendations???
I don't have anyone with hearing loss in the family and we are worried. I am glad this is being found early ,but I don't know what the next step will be if profound hearing loss is found
Help please

I would assume that the next test will be an ABR. I really can't be of much help but I do agree that early identification AND intervention is critical for the child’s speech and social development.
Good luck and keep us informed.

Just a quick question? Do you know if viruses during pregnancy can cause hearing loss? I had a very bad stomach virus around 18 weeks.
just curious
