Last night i went out to a club and the music was extremely loud. For a period of about 45 minutes i was very near to the largest speakers there and the music was so loud the stairs to the booth were shaking. I was in the club for only about four and a half hours, but yet there has been a sharp constant ringing in my ear since. I think the fact that i am coming down with the flu also may effect this. I have not been hearing as well as i did before i went to the club. I do not usually listen to loud music and i am only sixteen. Also i have a very important Spanish listening exam on Monday so i need immediate answers. Thanx for your help.

It's called tinnitus. Most likely this will go away for you. However, consider it a warning sign. If you keep abusing your ears with loud sounds, esp music, the ringing will NOT go away.

Please protect your ears from loud noise. If I'm going to any function that I know will be painfully loud, I ALWAYS carry ear-plugs to lower the impact.
What happens is that the intense volume gets the delicate hearing organs...celia, nerve endings vibrating wildly and they keep sending sensations long after the noise is gone. Do it too often over a long period of time and they begin to stop recovering and start to lose their ability to respond at all: hearing loss.
