I read in a holistic/alternate medicine book that nightly melatonin use helps ease tinnitus. Has anyone tried this or does anyone have other ways to relieve this annoying disturbance? http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dizzy.gif

I've "gotten used to" this constant high pitch, more pronounced in my right ear, for ten years and it's frustrating to hear doctors tell me it may be forever annoying companion. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif. Docs suggested antidepressants but they seemed to increase noise level so I quit them altogether. I'll try the melatonin and let you all know in a few months if it does indeed help.

Any tips you all may have for tinnitus alleviation would sure be appreciated. Thanks! Anna

Anna,
I've never heard of the melatonin-tinnitus connection. I DID try a couple months of melatonin "therapy" for sleep enhancement and winter blahs.
I don't think my tinnitus lessened but I wasn;t looking for it...maybe possible.

Some proven culprits for worsening the screetch are aspirin and caffeine.

Thanks for responding, Zip2Play - yes, I know so well about pain relief meds and coffee. I haven't noticed much improvement with melatonin but sure am sleeping a lot, ha!, ha. If I see any improvement or come across another "remedy" I'll post it! take care, anna
