If so,That alone can drive you nuts.I also had a stapledectomy done 6 months ago due to otosclerosis which doesn't help much but i can defenitely hear better.I'm severly allergic to mold, dust and grass. Take care caz 406 06-26-2003, 07:03 PM Texan, Have you read Cora's post on otosclerosis? Have you had any follow-up treatment of sodium fluoride by any chance??? Caz zip2play 06-26-2003, 08:45 PM Birdman, Try some decongestants like Sudafed (over the counter) and see if it reduces the stuffed ears. Frequent hot tea with lemon, and broths...any moist heat will help: long steamy showers, steam room etc. thebirdman 06-26-2003, 11:04 PM thank you for your replies, my ears do crackle but only when i swallow or yawn i will also try the hot tea with lemon that zip2play suggested kymomlee 06-27-2003, 09:27 AM Try some guifeison ( robitussion) we used to give it to students and it really seems to help with pressure in ears texan42 06-29-2003, 03:56 PM Hi Caz,I've tried flouride for about a month..didn't seem to help me and made my joints ache. It's supposed to be for long term therapy.I have bilateral otosclerosis,as well as otosclerotic ear syndrome.Because of this i have developed a mix conductive and sensorineural hearing loss with episodic exacerbations of vertigo. If you have conductive hearing loss i would highly recommend a stapedectomy.I'm going to have surgery done on my left ear soon as i can...it's amazing what you can hear after the packing comes out!I went under local anthesia and was fortunate not have any problems. My otologist tested my hearing right on the surgery table directly after he performed the procedure.I hope this helps. Take care CORA 06-30-2003, 08:06 AM Hi Texan Would you mind answering to my poll about otosclerosis? We are trying to find out how common is the presence of cochlear otosclerosis to patients of the disease.Any information you can provide will be helpfull to us. (i.e. when were you diagnosed and how fast did oto progress) The numbers of your audiograms for both ears will help too.Give us both numbers bone and air. Cora bovvy 07-02-2003, 05:37 PM hi the birdman it sounds a lot like ETD. i suffer from this and my story is on the health board under EDT instead of ETD (silly me) have a read and tell me if yours is similar if so ill give you some information. good hunting. thebirdman 07-03-2003, 03:54 PM bovvy, i read your post, i do not believe that i have ETD because i the only symptom i have is Pressure in both my ears and on top of that my nose feels a little irritated sometimes wich leads me to believe that it is allergies,Though I get a very small thumping sensation in my ear but it only lasts about 3 seconds and only happens once every three days at most bovvy 07-03-2003, 05:47 PM oh good im glad you havent got it, it's horrible. I hope it all clears up soon let me know what happens with it. good luck. |
