Hi all! I've posting on other boards hopping to get a response. Sometimes when I lay down, I have 'waves of deafness' it's like my ear closing up slowly to the point that I can't hear, then it clears up the same way it went. This may go on for a few minutes or so. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/idea.gif

Bugsy,
How long do these "waves of deafness last" and is there anything you hear at the moment the the shutdown occurs?

hey zip! I totally go deaffor a couple of seconds at a time. I thought at first it might be blood pressure, cause I fell pressure in my head when I get up from a sitting position. Every time at the docs office my pressure is normal. Usually 120to130 over 70to90. This is kinda scary since I have 80% hearing loss in my right ear already due to a childhood illness. I;m wondering if it could be hormone or allergy related.

Bugsy,
That ones got me totally snafued. I haven't a clue and recommend a good ENT or ototlogist (ear specialist) who will do a thorough exam and maybe include a Cat scan or MRI. Between the 80% deafness and the postural change, I can tell you for sure that what you have is NOT common.
