Let me start by saying I am in my 19th week of pregnancy and I have recently began to hear my heartbeat in my ear. I am not sure if this is normal or not but I figured I would give it a shot....and ask other people. It seems to be a daily thing for the past few weeks....

Not sure why you have it but I had the same problem years ago during anxiety and found I could not lay on my left side.

Yeh, I have been hearing my heartbeat in my right ear for months now and I could not tell anybody until now and i am not pregnant. Sometime the sound changes to vibration and drum beating sound, i thought I am going crazy, the only thing I can think off is that my right ear drum is perforated. I already made an appointment to see my Gp next week to check it out.
I will be glad to hear from someone out there who knows about this kind of ear problem

I have a similar problem. I not only hear the heartbeat but I can hear my breathing loudly in my left ear. It is only that ear. It is driving me crazy!!! I too am not pregnant and I did see a specialits and they gave me a nasal spray with testosterone in it. Did nothing but waste money. Any suggestion would be great. Thanks

Same thing used to happen to me at age six. Caused by fluid in ear-drums. Had to have grommets fitted. Being an active child, these fell out quite frequently and had to be refitted equally frequently.

Suffer profound hearing loss at age 14. Been wearing a hearing aid ever since.

I just started hearing my heartbeat in my left ear. I only hear it while I'm in bed at night. It's very loud. I got water in the ear while taking a shower a week or so ago. The ear hurts a little and when I press behind the ear is makes a squishy sound. Now, I have heard my heartbeat in my ear before, but much less noticeable. This would happen during periods of anxiety, and would occur in both ears.

I too have had this problem (on and off for three years) mostly due to stress I believe, having said that, a year ago I started loosing my hearing in my Left Ear. After much detailed test, I was diagnosed with otospongeosis. I don't believe that the two are related, but it is an interesting combination.

I think that hearing heartbeats is usually caused by a sensitive ear being deprived of outside stimulation. The ear/brain then just TRIES to hear harder (if you get my drift) and turns inward. The hearing deprivation can be caused by an extremely quiet room, by a plugged outer ear (wax, water) or by anything interfering with conduction (otosclerosis, otitis media, pus buildup, blocked eustachian tube, etc.)
Cure the interference and the sensitivity to heartbeat will continue.
Perhaps high blood pressure plays a part as well.
