Hi,
I have been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea-only hypopneas, and have been having a lot of problems using the cpap machine. As a child I sucked on my 2 front fingers, pushing mostly on my 2 front teeth and the roof of my mouth, and continued to do so into my adult years. I finally quit but I am wondering if sucking my fingers could have pushed my jaw forward enough to narrow my airway in my throat. I also have a high arched palate because of the finger sucking. I am also overweight so I have a lot of strikes against me in the fight with sleep apnea. So.......Could see cpap be a problem because of a narrow airway in my throat due to my jaw being pushed forward? What type of doctor should I consult to maybe take an xray of my throat/sinuses to see if my airways are affected. I live in Chicago and wondered if anyone could recommend a doctor to me. I have been really struggling lately, I wake up out of breath most mornings and need to find a solution, I have not been using the cpap because I have not been able to fall asleep with it on a night, I wish I could.
Thanks so much for your time!
