My mum phoned me and talked me into doing the hpt early, as she was so desperate to know. I POAS then left it on the table and hid! My heart was beating so fast, I was so scared to look... I finally came out and looked and saw a 2nd pink line, and was in total shock! BFP! I'm still in shock!! I've had to buy 2 more sticks as that line has been such a long time coming, I need to see more! DH finished work early, so he knows now, and is taking it very calmly, as if he never doubted it for a minute. Thankyou girls for all your love and support. Don't know what to do with myself now. Loads of love to everyone.

Aimee, Hopeful, Holly, Mady, Kari, thankyou!!
Hopeful, yes, it was my first IVF, so I'm so so lucky. I had 5 injectable IUIs last year with no luck.
Holly, yes, the bfps are flowing - we'll all be celebrating yours in just a few weeks!
Kari - I honestly don't know what the next step is. The clinic asked me to phone and let them know, so I left a mssg but might not hear anything until Monday now. Hey, we'll probably be giving birth on the same day!! I can't be separated from my stick. I must have looked at it 200 times already!

hahaha, I know, I held those two sticks so close to my heart all morning. And as soon as I got home from lunch I ran straight to the bedroom and they both still showed positive! :D What a day, right? God I hope my little one can hang on so that we seriously could have the possibility of sharing an expected due date! That would be awesome. Lizzie I'm sure that everything with you and your baby (or babies!) is so healthy and safe... I promise, even if mine does not go on, I'll continue to be just as excited for you as I am right now... and my excitement will stay strong right up through your post about the birth story! (((hugs))) and more congrats to you!!!

Lizzie - a huge congratulations on your BFP!!! :bouncing: :bouncing: :bouncing: :bouncing:

I think that is so wonderful! I can't wait to see you over on the pg board - I am very similar to you, I just got a BFP a few weeks ago with my 1st IVF, after 5 failed IUI's.

I agree with Mapia that I don't ever remember seeing so many BFPs all at once as we've had recently, and I've been on this board for years. I think these babies are finally ready to join our families.

Seriously 2008 is a HOT year! Sizzle...

Wen, Kari, Mapia, Laurie, Kelley, Cashahn, JD, Amy, Wanttobeamama, thankyou all so much!

Wen - my clinic is in Devon, Southwest UK. Where abouts are you? This clinic has a 50% success rate which I think is really good for NHS clinics. Have you managed to find out anything about your chances of free NHS IVF? I so hope you'll get the go-ahead. Will be keeping my fingers crossed for you..

Kari - I don't like to hear you talking about yours maybe not hanging on, you have such a little fighter(/s?) in there the odds are firmly in favour of a healthy 9 months! And a large dose of good luck is long overdue for you my friend. I know it's natural to worry - I did another hpt this morning and the line was much fainter. Also getting lots of AF style cramps... but trying not to assume the worst. Can't wait for your result later. I'm expecting the best news ever from you!

Cashahn, I'll be praying that you are just as lucky and your first IVF cycle gets you that bfp!

JD - it seems we have parallel lives! How are you feeling?

Amy - yes, I told my family yesterday, but DH wants to wait 3 months before he tells his. My mum has phoned ALL her friends to tell them the good news. My brother sent me a huge bouquet and my dad said he had tears in his eyes! Huge relief all round.

You girls are right, the boards are 'sizzling' now, and I'm sure there will be many more bfps to follow! Good luck and lashings of babydust to eveyone!
Lizzie

Oh Lizzie, thank you for those perfect words! I was talking to my little baby in there on my drive home calling him/her "kiddo" and saying how important it was to keep fighting cause there is so much love waiting for him/her on the other side!

Did your clinic call you back? I think you left them a message yesterday afternoon your time, right? I really look forward to hearing what they want you to do next!

As for your AF type of cramps, I think I might be feeling them too (since yesterday), but I keep telling myself it's only nerves. It's really hard to know for sure. I don't get drawn out, bad cramps prior to AF... usually just a couple tell-tale ones literally like an hour before first blood (again, sorry TMI)... so I know what they feel like, but they just aren't very prominant thruout my periods. But like I said, I've def been feeling something in there the last couple days... could be the cramps we so often hear about in early pregnancy, could be nerves!

lizzie786
02-23-2008, 12:04 PM
Kari, that is so sweet! I must confess, I talk to mine all the time too. I've been assuming it's twin boys, I don't know why. I went to relax at the beach the other day as I had the afternoon off and it was really sunny (freezing cold though!). I was telling them how much fun we're going to have looking in rock pools and playing in the sea. I keep begging them to hang on too.

My clinic haven't called back. I guess they close up on weekends. It's sleepy Devon.. no such thing as 24/7 here!

You're right, the cramping could be nerves.. Lets just hope they are early pg symptoms. It's so cool that we are exactly the same stage and will be able to compare sysmptoms throughout..

I have to go and cook now, we have friends coming for dinner. DH doesn't want to tell them yet, so I'll have to hide my sticks now! Will check in again asap for your exciting and joyous news.

Hey Lizzie just wanted to check in on you.Dont worry about the cramps sweetie its natural considering you have a little life growing inside you. That was so sweet of your family and how happy they all are for you.I am so happy for you to sweetie.Well enjoy your dinner with your friends and have a nice weekend.

02-23-2008, 05:52 PM
Lizzie, how awesome would twin boys be??? How exciting just to think about it!!! Do you think you'll find out the gender when you get the option? I hope you don't mind me jumping too far ahead, but I imagine that if you're anything like me that is something you've thought about through all the months/years struggling with IF! Oh, and I'm still undecided! But I think no... I'm not sure. :D Just as long as I can take this pregnancy far enough to even have the option, I'll be thrilled no matter what I'm blessed with!

Devon sounds wonderful... I like that "live life" attitude it sounds like is prevalent there! My poor RE works every single Sat and Sunday. I love his dedication, but could not imagine. His poor wife! :) Well please tell us on Monday what you find out. Hope you enjoyed your dinner!

lizzie786
02-23-2008, 06:44 PM
Kari, haha, I have indeed thought that far ahead.. and I think I would like to know. I think I'd need all the time possible to come up with names that DH agrees with! I'm jumping ahead too...I just can't wait to have morning sickness and a bump!

Yes, Devon is really laid back, it's great once you get used to it. I lived in London for a while and found the slow pace of life quite a shock when I first moved here, but now I wouldn't have it any other way.. must be getting old;)

Congratulations again sweetie, you deserve this SO much.

Mapia, thanks for helping put my mind at ease about the cramps. I know, it was so sweet how my family reacted, they were just so relieved. You have a great weekend too.x

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!! :bouncing: :blob_fire :bouncing: :blob_fire

I am SO happy for you!! As soon as I read your first post, I immediately started praying prayers of thanks for you! :D And then I giggled at the thought of you hiding from your hpt. That's so cute, and i can fully understand why you would. :D But that is SUCH good news!!!!! :D: I am SO happy for you! And oh my gosh, woudln't twin boys be amazing???? Will you find out the sex when it coems to time? I knwo that's a little while away, but I can't help asking. I have no idea. Sometimes I say yes, fo course I will....but then others....I want that surprise, you know? And there are so many unisex things these days one woudln't have to worry about clothes and decorating. But I know I would never have the patience LOL!! :D:
So, how is DH??? Happy????
I know this is a personal decision, so don't think that I'm trying to influence you either way, but will you stay on the IF boards or will you graduate? :D Either way, you're always going to be in my prayers!! :D

Thankyou girls!

Charlene - thankyou so much, and good luck for your cycle - I hope you are right behind with your bfp!

Kelley - Thanks, we had a great night, and you're right - it is so hard to keep it a secret! They wondered why I wasn't having a glass of wine but didn't twig. How are you feeling now sweetie?

Hazel - thankyou so much, and congrats on your hsg! All set for a speedy bfp now.

Kari, you're so sweet, always supporting others no matter what you're going through yourself. I'm still praying that your cycle will have a happy ending. Thinking of you constantly.

Princess - thankyou! I know, it was just so hard to take a peek, and then I was in such shock I couldn't take it in! I will definitely want to know the sex when the time comes, I can live without the surprise! You're right about the unisex clothes but I'd still want to know so we can decide on names. DH is really happy, and surprisingly well-read on pregnancy! As for 'graduating', no, I need to see all my girls get their bfps. It's funny, I don't feel I need to go to the pg board. IF was the hardest thing to live with and it has been so good to hook up with others who know what it's like. I feel like all my friends are here and I need to see their IF journeys have happy endings. Hope you're having a good day.

I"M SO GLAD YOU"RE NOT LEAVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D
I mean, I woudl have understod if you did, but I get kind of sad when the girls go, especially if they've been around for awhile. Call me a stalker, but sometimes I check out the pg board just to see how some of the old girls are doing.
Oh, I completely understand!! I wouldn't be able to not know the sex of the baby!! :D:D I knwo it's a great surprise, but I want to know to think of names, and I knwo my mother woudl kill me if I couldn't tell her what kinds of clothes to buy! :D
I'm so glad DH is happy, I knew he would be, but it makes me so happy to read it and that he's very well read on pregnancy! Good fo rhim! He was obviously doing his homework! :D
I'm SO happy for you, my Lizzie, so very, very happy! I'm haivng an amazing day (Harveys for lunch and then online tv!) and I am wishing you the happiest, healthiest nine months!!

Princess, thankyou sweetie. You know I missed you all so much while I was doing my intensive studying. It's been so great to catch up with you all again, and it would be very hard to drag myself away! In fact, I should be doing my work now, but ever since my cycle started I have been slacking and am so behind. I just feel so positive about all my friends getting their bfps. Now I have seen my first one ever, it makes me sure that for all my girls it's just a matter of time. Your day sounds great - enjoy!

02-25-2008, 02:15 PM
OH my day is doing really well. I've told myself, that everything will get done eventually and no use stressing over them. I'm not going to let myself get backed into a corner.
You know, I really missed you while you were away doing your work. Don't misunderstand, I am SO proud of your for getting your masters and really putting forth all of your potential. I think that's absolutely wonderful, and in fact, following your example, I was looking into taking a few college courses (I was in university, but then dropped out when I hit a slump). But I mean to say, we missed you.
You know what, I am SO happy you're feeling so positive!! I'm feelign really positive too! I just knwo that 2008 is really going to be a big year for all of us!!

Kari15
02-25-2008, 02:52 PM
Hey Lizzie, Don't you worry for a second about slacking a little bit with the studies... right now you are pregnant and your little one(s) definitely deserve most of your attention, even more-so than something as important as education. I am also so glad you are around a little bit more, but at the same time I understand why you needed to take a bit of time away. Do you still find yourself looking at that first HPT? ;) Are you like me and did you take like 4 more straight away :D I know if I can get through the next couple of days I'll probably go back to the store and by some more of those evil sticks, just to reaffirm what I didn't have, then had, then lost again, and now maybe have again. But no matter what happens with me, don't doubt for a second that I won't be there to keep you company as your baby and belly grow for the next 8 months!!!! I'm really still every excited for you.

lizzie786
02-25-2008, 04:30 PM
Kari, you are so amazing, keeping your sense of humour at a time like this! I guess sometimes if we didn't laugh we would cry.. You keep that chin up girl. I feel dizzy every time I think about what you're going through, I think you have nerves of steel. What a great mom you're going to be! Thanks for backing me up on my slackness;) I walked out of a 2 hour workshop today after 10 minutes because I didn't understand it and was starting to stress, so just ran away! The baby-to-be definately comes first. As for those pesky sticks, I restricted myself to 3. One a day Fri, Sat, Sun. DH wouldn't let me do more over the weekend:) My second one was really faint, so I had to do another, but now I don't know if I'll get any more in case I get a faint one again! I have them all lined up in order and keep checking them over and over again!

Princess - good for you, not stressing. I like that attitude! I missed you so much too darling. I think that's a wonderful idea about taking a course. It really helps to distract from IF issues. I was at the point of beakdown when I started mine and it lifted me right out of it. I had to escape my evil boss, I had no choice but to move on but it has done me the world of good. I would definitely recommend it! Carry on taking it easy;)

02-26-2008, 03:45 AM
Hi girls,
Mapia - I know, at least I've got an excuse not to concentrate now! Although I haven't told anyone on my course yet.. the fact that I always have my hands on my belly might give it away soon!
Kari - I'm glad you're just as obsessed with those hpts as I am - that makes me feel better. That's so funny - I was going to write dates/times on them too! I've just kept them in the right order. I'll never bring myself to throw them way! Sweetie I hope that was a false alarm and you haven't had even the slightest sign of any bleeding.
April - thankyou! It's so nice reading the word 'pregnancy'!

Well, my clinic called me back yesterday and left a message as I was in lectures. They've booked me in for a 'viability' scan on March 19th! So I guess they don't do betas here. I didn't have any for my IUIs but just assumed I would this time as I had positive hpts. I went to my local doctor for a prescription for more progesterone pessaries, and they booked me in to see the midwife on March 18th, so I guess all I have until then are hpts if I need to reassure myself.. Not that I'm complaining - I'm just surprised, that's all.

Have a good day everyone,
Lizzie

Mapia74
02-26-2008, 08:13 AM
Hey Lizzie wow that suprises me that they dont do betas.I would think they would want to make sure everything is going ok.So we have to wait until March 19th well I guess we have to be patient.GUess what my bday is March 19th:D.Well sweetie hope you are having a nice day.Its so beautiful here in greece today its 20.

Lizzie,

I guess all offices are different - I am surprised that they don't draw blood. But, the most important thing is that you are pregnant, and we are all so excited for you! We'll be looking forward to hearing how your scan goes on the 19th!!!

Love,

02-26-2008, 05:41 PM
Lizzie, wow I'm surprised there will be no betas for you, but on the other hand I know from experience how painfully dramatic it can be waiting for the results of those tests!!!! So March 19th, huh? I will mark the day on my calendar and continue to pray that all goes well and healthy until then!!! And I hope we can compare Pg symptoms in another month, but even if I'm out of the game I'll still be bothering you for your updates! Have a great nite friend!!!

Mapia, wow, that Greek sunshine sounds wonderful! Hope you had a great day. Well, that's good to know my u/s shares a date with your bday.. I'll take that as a very good omen!

Kelley, thankyou! I like hearing the word 'pregnant'... I can't hear enough of it! Sweetie, wishing you so much luck for tomorrow. I don't think I'll be able to get online but will be excited to hear your good news on Thursday.

Kari, I hope more than anything in the world that we can compare pg symptoms in a few weeks with all the worries firmly in the past. I guess you're right about the absence of betas here... I think I have the easy option not knowing what's happening! You have a great evening too .. treat yourselves to a meal in your favourite restaurant, you both really deserve it. All the best,
Lizzie

I feel just the same - life not working out how I hoped/ planned it would. I thought I'd have my first by 25 at the latest, and 3 before I was 30, but had to wait til 35 for my first bfp. I really think you'll have given birth before you're 35.

Kari, hi! You know I didn't realise the u/s was just 2 weeks away. I thought it was just some distant, future date! It just shows I'm not counting the days. Maybe I'm a little scared. DH said I should do another hpt but I'm happy just imagining everything is ok, and I'm scared that something mught burst my bubble! Crazy, I know. I'm feeling totally exhausted, so that's a good sign. Sorry to hear about your day.. I am so rooting for things to get better for you darling.

I just have to say that I completely agree with you, in that I can understand why you don't want to hpt. Sometimes it's just easier going along. I mean, other 'normal' pregnant women do it, right? :D And besides, you have the mother's intuition!! If there was something worng, you'd feel it. And since you're calm and not needing to look, that clearly means that everything is going along smoothly and your little miracle(s) are going strong. Two more weeks until u/s!!! :D And today's Tuesday, which means it's technically almost Friday. :D I'm sending you lots of hugs!

((((((hugs)))))))))

Hi Lizzie

Just wanted to let you know I am thinking of you and your little one. I think the exhaustion you are feeling is a really good sign........ I remember the first trimester being the most tiring - even more so than the third.

Love to you and your little beanie baby.

Holly - hope your ET went well, I've been thinking of you lots, can't wait to catch up. Kari, hope you're feeling a bit better now. Everyone else - will catch up as soon as possible. All's good with me, we've just moved house, and I've had to spend an intensive few days getting my coursework finished and submitted after taking all that time off! Take care, catch up soon.

Hi Lizzie!

I'm touched that you asked about me. E/T went great! We transferred 2 "hatching embryos" on day 5. Three others made it to freeze on day 6. We are very pleased!! Today is my final day of bed rest, and then I go back to work tomorrow. BETA is on 3/19...only 1 week away!

It sounds like you have been incredibly busy!! I hope you're managing to rest whenever possible. I have been thinking of you as well & I was wondering when your first u/s appt is scheduled for. I simply can't wait to hear that all is going well & your little one(s) is(are) growing nice & strong!!

Take care & drop a line when you can.

Kari, Mapia, Ruby, Princess - sorry I didn't get chance to reply before, but thanks for your encouragement!
Kelley, hi, I'm feeling fine but more exhausted than ever! I'm not suffering m/s like you - but don't mind if you want to send some my way. Hope you're feeling better.
Holly, what wonderful news, I just know we'll be celebrating your bfp on Wednesday! I expect you're missing the bedrest now you're back at work, even if was driving you crazy at the time. My scan is on your bfp day - and Mapia's birthday!
Kari - hi! I'm so happy you have your cycle planned out already! I am resting at every opportunity - I can only give in to it.. I've never known tiredness like it..
Mapia, unfortunately we don't have a new home, but (long story), we have let our place out, and moved to my mums for 6 months. She is away for 4 months, so we'll be looking after the house and the (gorgeous) dog, and we won't have a mortgage to pay for 6 months! We cleared most of our things out before ivf so that I wouldn't get stressed for the cycle. DH works here so it's actually much easier for him, and I only have to go in 3 days a week now, so the drive to uni is ok.

Won't be able to get online again until next week, but you all have a great weekend!

Lots of love,
Lizzie

Lizzie, I'm glad you're getting some extra rest. You mustn't get overworked and tired :) How is your mother, by the way? I wanted to ask how she reacted when you told her she's going to be a grandma, if you've told her? Or was she away when you found out? I love hearing everyone's reaction to the big news, but for some reason, telling the mummy-to-be's mum is always the icing on my cake. I'll probbaly just tell DH I'm pg, but I'm going to be creative with Maman lol.
It's wonderful how thing worked out with livig at Mum's for awhile!! Six months of no mortgage, that's great news and a definite chance to save up for baby things!! :D

I hope you're enjoying your Friday!!

Hi Lizzie!!! I am super excited to hear all about your ultrasound results! I really wish that I could have remained pregnant and we'd be comparing first ultrasounds and due dates together. But knowing that you, my good friend, were pregnant and all was going smoothly helped to keep me strong and has inspired me to keep trying. Hopefully with my next IVF I'll be right behind you. Man, tomorrow is a big day with your ultrasound, April's E/R, Holly's beta, and Mapia's BDay. It's going to be so much fun to wake up and read everybody's good news! I'm guessing you will be the first to post since you are the farthest ahead of us. I'll be saying prayers for you and your little one tonite as I go to bed. Love ya!
