Hi everyone,
I'm new here. Here's my story: Last night, I had chest pains most of the night. From about 8p.m. until I went to sleep. The pain started like behind my left breast. My jaw didn't hurt, but I was nauseous. When I layed down, the pain got worse. It spread over my entire left side, over my left breast and under my arm. My back didn't hurt, but that left side hurt so bad. I can barely even explain it.
Can anyone tell me what this could be? I'm completely clueless, and a little scared. I really do hope that nothing is seriously wrong with me, because I don't have health insurance..so, if something happened, I'm pretty much screwed. lol.
Let me know what you think.

Welcome, I have been finding that I haven't gotten many responses from this board myself. So I figured I would at least say hello.
It is unfortunate that you don't have insurance because I would be calling my Dr. right away. I hope you feel better and the pain subsides. I have a heart condition but I don't have chest pains, so I really can't give you any other advice, but I hope you feel better.

Thanks for a response. I was just hoping that maybe someone would also have the same problems. And, maybe be able to tell me what it could be. So, you think it's pretty bad huh?

Hello.... newby.... I wouldn't panick yet, this certainly will compound your problem. It sounds very similar to what started to happen to me about two years ago, directly after I almost died from pancytopenia episode. My spleen was bleeding and there was some residual fluid around my heart.
Acouple of months after that, I started getting these pains and flutters in my chest. I would feel a strange, I wouldn't say painful, but uncomfortable feeling in my jaw, and neck... and then, pins and needles in my left hand and I would get real nervous and think I was having a heart attack.
It eventually stopped, until about 6 months ago when I started with a sudden breathing problem... which they are still trying to get to the bottom of.... but my heart was NOT one of the concerns.
They are swaying between Asthma, allergies and anxiety.
Could be all, but, my breathing problem began abruptly, and, came along with panic attacks because... well... when one cannot breathe, they.... panic.
panic attacks mimic heart conditions as heart conditions mimic panic.
Since you live in PA, you live in the commonwealth, which means, there are clinics who can help you either on a sliding scale or nearly free depending on your situation. I started this way before I got insurance, and, it saved my life.
Also, public assistance may give you health insurance... and it is pretty good believe it or not.
(Keystone) and I think they do full health scripts and dental... check it out.
to get you through the night, my suggestion is...
a teped relaxing bath and relaxing music to keep you calm. Try not to surf the web too much or you will scare yourself. CAll around tomorrow and make yourself an appointment to be seen by a clinic doctor who will check your vitals. He or she will be able to refer you to wherever you need to go fromthere. MANY
things can cause that sort of pain.... back problems, anxiety, heart, acid reflux. You would be amazed.
It depends on your age and medical history... family history etc.
Good luck http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Janet,
I wasn't implying that I thought your condition was really bad, I was just saying that calling a Dr. would be a good first step to alleviate some of your fears of what's going on.
I used to have symptoms and never called my dr. because I thought I was bothering her, but then I realized that, that is what they are paid for, so now I call whenever I need to. If you can find a clinic or someplace affordable - take advantage of it. Dr.s are there to help you. You can't diagnose something yourself. I hope you feel better.
Good luck.
