Hi everyone...first time poster, but avid reader of this site. I have fibromyalgia, I've probably had it (undiagnosed) for 10 years or so, but finally my doctor diagnosed me and prescribed Lyrica, 75 mg twice a day. I've been taking it for 3 weeks now and have had absolutely NO relief from the pain. I'm not sure if I haven't given it a fair chance to get into my system, or if it's just not right for me. I have to take both 75 mgs at bedtime because it makes me so sleepy I can't take it during the day. Should I give it another month or so or ask for something else for the pain. It is mainly my neck and shoulders, even my throat has extreme soreness. The pain is unbearable at times and I am aware of it constantly. It affects everything I do. I'm constantly twisting and stretching and bending my neck to try and ease the pain. Nothing works. My neck is so stiff I can hardly even move at times. It's very frustrating. If I do change meds, can someone suggest another for me??? Thanks for taking the time to read this...

If the 75mg hasn't helped, it's time to up the dose. Let your doctor know it's not helping. You can go up to 300mg twice a day with Lyrica.

If you can afford it, I woud recommend a massage. It really helps with the pain. I would also ask your doctor for something else to go along with the lyrica. Let us know how you are doing.

I started Lyrica after I got burning pain from a spinal cord injury. It helped immediately. However, over time it just didn't do much but take the edge off. I was taking 75mg 2-3x. I also take up to 400mg of tramadol. I now take about 375 mg to get the same relief plus the same tramadol. I do know I do not get that awful burning anymore. It feels more like a very cold breeze instead.

I have had fibro for about 10 yr now and taken almost every drug on the market!!! about 6 months ago I started taking at lyrica at first I took 75mg 2x a day and got little or no relief from pain the I started 100mg 2x a day... now I am takeing 100mg 2 every 6hrs and I feel that it is very good... It has helped more than any other drug I have ever taken when I am haveing a bad flare up. All I have to say to you is just hang in there I know at times the pain is just so hard to handle. Keep on reading this site for there is just so much information on it. I am very new to the site also but I know I will be reading it and posting on it...

Thanks to everyone who provided answers for me. I plan to go back to my doctor and get the doseage changed and see if that will help. God Bless everyone on this site who is in pain....and those who have people in your life like my manager who thinks that I am a hypochondriac. She hasn't a clue and the more I talk about the pain and all of the places that I hurt, the bigger hypochondriac I am...therefore, I don't talk about it anymore. I just sit at my desk twisting and turning and stretching and living in pain... Surely it will pass someday...
