My mother got a letter in the mail today stating that she had moderate mitral regurgitation... The last time I heard anything with "mitral" in it, was when I lost my fiancee to mitral valve prolaps... He was only 34. I know what my mom has is caused by the dietary supliment, but I dont understand what is going to become of this... I cant lose another loved one in such a painful matter. I saw my fiancee hurt so bad. Will I be watching my mother hurt like that? Any input on this would be so helpful.

I'm afraid I can't help you with your mother but I wonder if you could tell me more about your fiancee. I'm so sorry for you. My wife has been diagnosed with a mild case of mitro valve prolapse but nothing has ever been mentioned about it being life threatening. Did your fiancee develop an infecton or have other conditions that made this so serious. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Just do what the doctors say. My fiancee didnt follow heath advise well also his case was very bad. He had heart problems as a child... He just didnt take care of himself properly in time to save his life. Never say never... But if your wife takes care of herself she should live a long healthy life. All my wishes and prayers to you and your family.

HI Dean, If your wife hasn't had one, she needs a sonogram. Non invasive, doesn't hurt a bit. They rub a yucky jelly on your chest and take some pictures of the heart pumping. Usually it is the Mitral Valve they are looking at to see if the blood flow backs up into that chamber. If her heart (chest) hurts, they will most likely give her a medication to slow down the beat and make the heart beat stronger, not faster. Maybe she just needs to see a cardiologist if it has been over a year. See ya later. Oma

thanks Oma, She had an echocardiagram a few years ago and has no symptoms now. It was originally discovered during a mild panic attacked. She only takes an antibiotic before dental work. I'll pass your info on.
