I read a post of yours awhile ago that mentioned you were on many heart meds - have you ever heard of Florinef? My Dr. is trying it on me now to increase my bp - I suffer from Sinus tachycardia and orthostatic low bp. My bp is usually 80's/50's - it is slowly increasing with the med - but I physically don't feel any better. Do you know anything about it?

As a matter of fact. No I haven't ever tried that medication. But, I too at one time have suffered from low blood pressure yet, had a rapid pulse. I just increased my salt intake. At that time now that I've gained weight it is moderately high. I know you can feel weak and light headed when your blood pressure is low kind of like limp how are you doing???

I have a rapid pulse, too. Sinus tachycardia is what I was diagnosed with (my resting rate is over 100 bpm). I tried increasing my salt - per dr.s orders and it didn't help. I started florinef which is supposed to help your body retain sodium and therefore increase your blood pressure. I am not feeling much better - still weak and dizzy. My cardiologist increased my med last Wed. I am hoping that it will help soon. I still have heart palps and low bp.

Well, I too have been through the mill with lb. I had my blood pressure that low too many of times. I never could understand why my pulse was high yet bp low? Now, that I've gained weight I have high bp. I'm taking Garlic to lower it, Hawthorn to regulate my heart, and all my vitamins, minerals. Have you went to the health food store. Believe me when I was tired of meds that is where I went and this stuff really works. After all when you have a heart attack they check your enzymes and minerals. Potassium is important. When my bp was real low I would just rest with a sedative. Rest as much as possible. How long has this been going on?

Annette30,
I am not sure how long this has been going on. I am 32 and have had a rough 3 years. My husband walked out on me when my son was 9 mos old. I started having panic attacks (so I thought that's what they were) and was put on Klonopin back then. I have been on it for 2 years. I was recently hospitalized and they discovered my rapid heart rate (sinus tachycardia) and low bp. I have a feeling that was really my diagnosis 2 years ago when I was put on klonopin, when I should have been put on something for my heart/low bp. Anyway, what kind of sedative were/are you on? You mentioned that you rested a lot - klonopin makes me so tired and I have to nap at least every day (with my 3 year old son). I have no energy. Any advice?

What I was laughing about was that I too was put on klonopin in the beginning when I should of been placed on heart meds when I was 23. Had panic attacks, stress went through an ugly divorce. I know it's ruff but, we have to love ourselves more to want to take care of ourselves! I know it's hard but you have to make it through this for your kids.

Annette,
How long were you on klonopin? Did you have a hard time coming off? I have tried to come off twice and couldn't do it - any advice??

YOU COME OFF SLOWLY WHAT DOSE ARE YOU ON? AFTER AWHILE IT REALLY AFFECTS YOUR MOOD AND THINKING. THEN YOU CAN USE IS SPARINGLY. BUT WHAT DOSE ARE YOU ON? HOW ABOUT HEART MEDS? HAVE YOU WENT TO A HEALTH FOOD STORE YET? YOU GRADUALLY DECREASE BY A HALF A TABLET EVERY WEEK IF YOU BEEN ON IT LONG EVERY 2 WEEKS AND HOLD ON. YOU MAY WANT TO TAKE SOME KAVA KAVA IN PLACE OF THAT WHILE YOUR WEANING OFF FROM THE HEALTH FOOD STORE GET THE ONE BY NATROL IT WORKS WELL

Hi,
I have been on klonopin for 2 years. I am on .25mg at 3pm and 1 mg at bed. I have tried to get off of it twice and ended up in the emergency room twice. I am scared to go off it and scared to stay on it! My Dr. wants me to try St. John's wort, but my cardiologist wants me to wait until I have my florinef (bp/heart med) at the right dose before trying anything else.
I have been on 2 beta blockers in the past and they made me SEVERELY depressed - I read your other post and agree with you - I could not even function on them. How much klonopin were you on? How long were you on it?
I have a love/hate relationship with that drug. It is the only drug that has helped my anxiety, I have tried MANY, MANY drugs. But like I said (and my Dr. agreed yesterday) that it could have been my heart this whole time! (I obviously have a new Dr. since the original one that prescribed the klonopin 2 years ago.) But, unfortunately, he wants to keep me on klonopin for now, especially while they are trying to control my heart stuff.

Well hello there stranger, LOL
I was on klonopin for about 5 years. The doctor wanted me to take 1mg 3x a day. I never took it as prescribed by the doctor I would take it as needed according to how my heart felt. Sometimes 1mg once a day or twice a day or sometimes not at all. It all depended on how my heart felt. Kava Kava works good for the heart. Has the same effect as klonopin its by Natrol remember I told you about it? That klonopin can give you a down effect which I don't like. I like to be me vibrant and excited. Remember all the herbs I told you about and vitamins. Look up all that persons posts and you'll see all the good rememdies for the heart. If you don't want to try herbs just yet. Why don't you try co-enzyme q-10 that works great! That is a vitamin for the heart. Look I researched on all this because I have children and I was desperate. All the doctors wanted to do was use me as a guinea pig and pull out a prescription pad! If one medication didn't work there I was on another one. All of them have awful side effects and people have to understand that when they take them. Next thing you know when they are hit with the side effects their wondering why when they were fully warned. I'm just saying be careful. Co enzyme q-10 will also raise your blood pressure a little bit. It really helped me. I'm not on heart meds and I take klonopin once in awhile. I"m getting lots better since I've been taking hawthorn, malic acid & magnesium, co-enzyme q-10, and lots of good stuff for the body. Celery is a natural diuretic you know. Go down to your local health food store and see what they can recommend tell them about the klonopin being a sedative and so fourth. Rest as much as possible and get out doors as much as possible. Don't let your mind dwell which it tends to do cause this is a scary time in your life. I know I've been there. It doesn't feel to good and it feels like your life is just lingering in the gaps. Palps, Flutters, Pounding, Heart attacks, SVT, MVP I had it all and you know my age. I thought the physicians told me I had nothing to worry about SVT,MVP was harmless? That is when I got tired and turned to vitamins/herbs and change of diet after suffering a heart attack you'd think I'd be bed ridden but thank God I'm not. I'm doing quite well! I started back on everything that I knew was good for me it was when I swayed away and felt so good I didn't think I needed to take care of myself and ate like a glutton salt and everything. Even low blood pressure what I used to have use to drain me and cause me to feel weak and dizzy. I just researched and found that Digoxin is from the Foxglove plant found that out through the university of Iowa and that is strengthens the heart muscle! It's me you know who

We are two funny people! So, through all of these symptomatic problems we got a sense of humor that's great! By the way Co-enzyme q-10 will strengthen your heart and raise your blood pressure! Look it up on the web it's a vitamin for your heart. (Not on all people does it raise your blood pressure but on lots) Not too high either give it a try!

Hi,
I am seeing my cardiologist on Wed. - I'll run it by her to make sure she is o.k. with me taking something else. Thanks for your help! I'll let you know how it goes. How are you feeling?

Lelalo,
I've been feeling great! No meds at all! On vitamins/minerals/ Hawthorn herb! I'm doing great! I don't go to the cardiologist anymore. I remember what I went through in 98 med & med & more meds. The only med I take is a diruetic which I have one pill left and am going to try a natural thingy for water retention. I noticed I have had only one palp the other day! The heart attack kind of woke me up. YOu see I had nursed myself back to health after the first on at 23 yrs old with vitamins, herbs, minerals and had not svt symptoms for about 7 yrs until I over ate, and didn't take care of myself! So, with Jesus who I know is my healer and guider on how to take care of myself! I'm feeling great. I even wake up at 5am and go to bed at 10pm now with much more energy I want to thank God for every place he leads me to on how to take care of myself.

Lelalo,
I may be getting off the board for now on... Maybe I'll check from time to time to see how you are doing. Most people in here are so dependent on their doctor and unwilling to try something that may help them get better. I feel for them because I was once in their shoes but, like I said I became desperate. I don't see it doing me any good to talk about things that I know are helpful when people just want prescription after presciption.... I'm sure you can understand. But you write down all that I have mentioned and look it up on the web and try a little here and there you never know you may find they really work. People who have found no relief usually tried something for a day or two then stopped. So, you go and I'll be praying for you.

Annette30,
Thanks for all of your help and for your prayers. I will write down everything you are taking. I understand what you are saying about Drs. I feel as though I have reached my point with them as well, I keep hoping that they will be the ones to make me feel better and they haven't yet. I don't want any more drugs either. I just recently went to a holistic healer - because I am desperate to feel better. The healer suggested that I pray everyday, which is something I tend to not do when I am feeling sick because I am so distracted with my physical feelings. I need to find my faith again.
I will remember Acts 2:38. Thank you and take care of yourself.
