dee1952 02-24-2008, 03:27 PM how to clean out ears when they are plugged Sponsor Executor 02-24-2008, 08:50 PM My ENT says to NEVER use a Qtip. The best home remedy is a little kit you can buy at the pharmacy OTC....Ear drops that loosen up the wax, and then a little suction ball (like you use for infants). I get my cleaned out from the ENT about once a year. He has some high powered rinse machine that gets EVERYTHING out. Everyone produces different levels of wax and my ENT says some people come in as often as every 6 months. It's not painful, but is a little tender afterwards from the high powered jet stream they spray in your ear. The best description I can give is it's like a car wash wand. I don't mean to be gross, but it's incredible what comes out! It's amazing, however, how much better it feels afterwards and how much better you can hear. Good luck. cheryltwin 03-03-2008, 09:25 PM I have this problem from time to time and finally got sick of going to the Dr. to get them cleaned out... they use a Water Pik, so I got one for myself. Started with the ear wax softening drops from the drug store... then after a few minutes, used the Water Pik on the very lowest level... it was absolutely amazing how much garbage came out of my ear! My ear feels better than when i used to go to the Dr.... amazing! Now, I notice online that they have special tips you can buy for the water pik for this very use... Best thing ever! |
