Could possibly be small fibre nerve damage, the small fibre nerves job is to recognize temperature & pain, if they are damaged they will send incorrect signals to the brain.
There are many reasons why this can happen, you should try to find a neuro that is an expert in Peripheral Neuropathy and they will send you off for blood tests to try to find the cause.
I say an expert because this a specialized field with other 200 known reasons why nerve damage happens, if you do an internet search for " small nerve peripheral neuropathy " you will find some reasons why this can happen.
good luck
Aussie :)
