I was wondering if anyone onthis board has had remissions with thier Ra. My Gp suspects that my problem is RA. I have many stiff and swollen fingers on both hands and painfulknees but in early stages if it is RA. Also did RA prgress quickly after diagnosis or stay managable for a long period of time. I am an upbeat positive person and intend to keep a good outlook even if this is RA. Am I not facing reality ?

Susie63, I will pray that you don't have RA! I am a 64 year old male, diagnosed 2 years ago after knee surgery. It took 3 wks for it to go thru my whole system. I denied the Doctor's finings but now, I know better. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. At a class reunion last year, I saw an old friend and classmate, he too, suffered from RA 12 years, it has been in remission for the past 3 years. He did not get treatment until most the damage was done. My Rumey attacked my RA very aggressively and I am currently on methotrexate, prednisone and (Humira which I started 25 weeks ago). As time and changes in med's took effect, I have somewhat of a life again. Pain, fatigue, cold, rain, depression, somedays a total feeling of worthlessness are to be expected. Take each day one at a time, overcoming, all the above, is a goal within the goal. I am very thankful for each day.... I have had to learn to slow down and be careful of my movements not to stress the joints. I do what I can and have learned to ask for help. I must say that a Positive upbeat attitude is one of the greatest tools in our arsenal. My RA did not and has not shown in my blood work. However, the biospy did show it very clearly. Follow thru with your Doctor and ask questions--get answers.
