View Full Version : Consultation Appt. today

Phillypainter

I just got back from my appt. It was a little better than expected. She has been happy with all my b/w so far and wants to continue a few more months with Clomid and IUI if needed (hopefully it won't be needed) then move on to injectables which I really fear but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. She said she isn't even close to suggesting IVF which I was really happy to hear! She kept saying I was young. I guess I am compared to some of her other patients. There was a lady in there today trying to get pregnant, I saw her paperwork and she was 45. Now I kind of feel kind of young.

Hahaha, Jennifer, I completley understand that young thing. For me, and maybe it's just me, but when people tell me I"m young I get annoyed. But hearing that one woman was 45.... well that puts a whole new spin on things!!!! I'm sure that you won't need much longer at all until you get that BFP!!! :D

Thanks. I am 32 and they say your fertility drops off at age 35 so I am fearing I am getting too close to that. I know some clinics won't treat people of a certain age. I have mixed emotions about that. I mean, everyone who wants a child, deserves a chance at one but when I hear about these 50 year old women having babies, I feel a little sad that they are cheating their children in not being around for a long time. They will be 80 if they live that long when their child is 30. Guys do it all the time and nobody seems to care. DH's uncle has 1 yr old twins and he is 60.
I forgot to add. She didn't seem too concerned with the fact I was a little late with the IUI. She said the egg stays in there for 24 hours and that the bloods would have dropped right away after relasing the egg. Ahh, I will have to wait until Monday to do beta and wait for Tuesday for the results. Maybe I'll be weak and buy and HPT.

I do agree with your doctor, 32 is still young. To the fertility world, it doens't sound young, but a lot can happen in three years before you really have to worry abotu anything. For all we know (and this is what I hope for) in three year's time, instead of worrying about your fertility, you'll have a three year old, and likely another one or two on the way! :D
I feel the exact way as you--- when I hear abotu a 60 year old woman giving birth, I htink that the child is cheated out of a mother who can race with them across a soccer field in spring or take the tobagganing in winter.
But you will not have to worry abotu that. I am VERY confident that you will be getting your BFP really soon!!!!!

Jennifer, that is so reassuring your doctor didn't think IUI was too late!!! And I'm so hopeful that the discussion of future IUI's is all for nothing cause I really hope this 2WW of yours concludes with a sticky BFP!!! Good luck girlie!

Jennifer,

I'm glad your doctor wasn't concerned about the IUI timing! Like I said before the one month they did the IUI late, I did get that BFP. I'm really hoping that this cycle is it for you!!! I'll be thinking of you through the rest of the wait!!!

Jennifer I am glad the dr is not concerned about the late IUI. I am praying that you get your sticky BFP. As for only testing on Monday that would drive me insane. I am already crazy :dizzy::eek:just waiting for Friday to arrive. I bought a HPT:nono: this afternoon (I know I should not have) so that whilst waiting for my Beta #'s I can test or even the night before:dizzy:. I will try and hold out as long as possible though.

:angel:Good luck and sending you tons of sticky baby dust your way.

Jenn -- so glad that the doc was not too concerned about the late IUI... and that she is still far from suggesting IVF... that sounds quite promising! :) funny how you mentioned about age... I just turned 34 and i feel like it is now or never... I feel I am running out of time... so it is funny to see another perspective from someone (the doc) who deals with patients in their 40s...:)

Praying that this cycle is IT for you!!!

Charlene,
I think I will probably be weak and buy an HPT for Sunday. That way I will be prepared. I haven't had any symptoms so that worries me. I know they say not everyone has implantation bleeding but it seems everyone here has.
Thanks for the kind words

Jennifer,

I really am wishing you all the best for your beta Monday!! Whatever you decide to do with the HPT, I really am hoping that this cycle is it for you!!! As for symptoms or implantation bleeding, there are just as many people who don't have either of them as who do. I won't say not to worry because I know that's impossible, but we are all thinking of you!

Sending lots of sticky baby dust your way!

Thank you for that Kelley. I am driving myself crazy. I was a little crampy (if that is a word) this morning. It could be my nerves though. I don't think it would be AF because I am on progesterone and that will delay AF until you stop. I'm going to try and get blood drawn on Saturday 13DPO if I can find a Quest with any appts. left. That way I will get my results on Monday and won't be working when I get the call.

I bought 3 $ store HPT's today. I know that is crazy but I just don't have the $20 to spend on a good one unless there is a line, in that case I will RUN to the Rite Aid on the next block and buy the most expensive thing I can find. I will probably test Fri, Sat, and Sun. I can't find a lab with any Saturday appts. available so I am still up in the air if I go Friday night it would be 12dpo, do you think that would be accurate at that point? Or should I wait until Monday? I can go to the RE's on Sat or Sun but they won't send it out until Monday. I am getting a little lower back pain which I never get and I have been having minor cramps all week nothing much though. I am still taking BT. It was the highest it has ever been this morning. That is just like a punch in the stomach though if you take it and it drops, you know right away it is a no.

02-27-2008, 10:52 PM
Oh wow Jennifer, that is kinda tough. I think 12dpo is basically the cutoff point... anything before that would def be too early I think. But believe me, I know the agony of having to wait an extra 48 hrs!!! :dizzy: Well I'm behind you no matter what you decide to do. Your high temp does sound pretty promising! Keep us posted okay?

Phillypainter
02-28-2008, 07:21 AM
I'm really going crazy here, maybe someone can help. I think this temp taking is almost as addictive as POAS so I woke up at 1am and took my temp, it was low, I was so upset, I woke up one or two times after that and it was getting higher and higher then when I took it at 6:45, the same time I normally take it, it was one of the highest it has ever been. Should I be worried about the low temp at 1am? I never take it then. I should just lock it up and not buy into that until after the beta. If anyone can help, please do.

I wish I could help, but I really don't know much about temperature charting. I'm sure someone here will be able to answer your question. But, I wanted to check in and I am really hoping for some great news from you soon!!

Jennifer, I also have never done the temping thing... but I've heard it's supposed to be taken at the same time each day. If it was still even higher at the same time you normally take it, well then I think you have to go with that result. Good luck hun... you will be finding our for sure soon!

Thanks guys. I have been nervously researching this and read: take 1/10 of a degree off for every half hour you do it earlier than your usual time and add a 1/10 degree for every half hour past your usual time so that would explain it.

Jennifer I would totally disregard that 1am temp and use the temp you got at 6.45am as this is the normal time you do it therefore it would be the most accurate. I totally agree that temping is very addictive and Im going to continue to do it through my IVF cycle. Wishing you all the best.

Hi Jennifer

I don't know anything about temping but you now have me very intrigued...... I think I might start trying that too.

Anyway, just wanted to wish you all the best and I hope that you get your sticky BFP.

Good luck!

I don't know if you want to go through all the greif! The gyn had me temp when I said I was ready to have a baby. For some reason, my temps never got that high. (It was summer and we had the central air on all the time) so she said I wasn't ovulating, I was so upset I cried the whole way home. She sent me on to the RE who did all the bloodwork and said I was ovulating just fine. The only sure thing I know is the day you are going to get AF, that morning the temp will drop a lot. Even on the day I O it doesn't seem to spike that much. If you are going to do it, make sure you get a basal body thermometer, they don't cost much and you can get them at any drug store.

Thanks for the tips and advice. I think I'm at the stage where I need to try anything just to make me feel like I am at least doing something. Also, I think I already have a pretty good idea of when I am O'ing so it would be good to have confirmation of it.

I hope you are doing well and managing to hang in there!

I'm really at my wits end with this thing. First of all I took an HPT and if was a BFN, I am trying not to read too much into that because it is only 12dpo and it is a cheap one. My temps were slightly down but not a whole lot. I think one big condition is your sleeping conditions. Last night I wasn't dressed as warm and I didn't have as many blankets on. Also, my gyn told me to take the temp even before my feet hit the ground in the morning but she is the only person I have ever heard that from. The only advice I hear is take it at the same time every day.

Oh Jennifer, i wouldn't listen to the hpt at all. It's so early and it's a cheapy. I don't know anything about temps, but I thinkit sounds logical that it woudl impacted by your sleeping conditions. I am hoping for you BFP, try to keep thinking positive thoughts and remember that there is every reason why this cycle will bring you your BFP!!!

Jennifer,

I agree with Princess, that 12 dpo is so likely just too early to get a positive result. Even the early HPTs that claim to be able to tell you 5 days before... if you read their accuracy, it's only something like 50% 4 days before, like 70% 3 days, and so on. So, hang in there!!! I'm really hoping that you'll see that second line in a few days!!!

Love,
Kel

Thanks guys, Yes, I am not relying on the HPT, I am just always worried about the darn temp. I should just lock the thermometer up! I am up about 4 times a night constantly taking it. I think if it was going to drop, it would stay low all of the time. It was a little lower all morning today but not signifigantly.

Yep, You, me, and Charlene. That would be a wonderful thing posting some great news from all three of us! I am in that see-saw mood where I say no, I'm definatly not, then maybe I am. I have had minor lower back pain for a few days, minor cramps but no implantation bleeding or anything else. I don't know it the things I do have are side effects from the progesterone and clomid or the real thing. I have never had back pain in my life.
Hoping for a ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++from all of us!

Hi Jennifer

The 2ww is so hard isn't it! It's really difficult trying to determine whether the symptoms are from pregnancy or AF. I hope you are doing okay.

Good luck POAS tomorrow....... I REALLY hope you get a positive.

I got another BFN this morning but like I said ,I am trying hard not to read into that. I am going to church then to the support group I mentioned. DH is going too. Maybe he can understand it a little bit more. I am afraid I will break down and cry but I know the other people are in the same boat as me and will understand. I know I won't be as comfortable there as I am here online but its worth a try.

Thanks guys, The support group was okay. I passed the info from this board on to the people I met there so maybe they will join. I said how helpful and caring you all are. There was one other couple and a woman as well as the woman running it. I was the only one crying, I felt like such a fool. I was so upset because the directions were wrong then there was no street # on the building. Silly little things but I guess they just upset me enough. I have a major headache so I am heading to bed.

Hi Jennifer hun. I'm so sorry about everything. Even tho the HPT's aren't exactly reliable, it's still so hard to see that stupid BFN. And it's such an emotional time for your right now at the end of a 2WW, I completely understand that something like poor directions could get you upset. Hang in there friend. OH Jennifer, I'm so sorry abotu that HPT. It still could definitely be your month, those hpts are so fussy. Maybe you have a late bloomer in there :) Don't feel badly abotu crying and being upset over poor directions... you were going to a place feeling emotionally charged, and preparing to talk abotu a highly emotional topic. It would make anyone upset, dearest. Stay strong, dearest, this could still very well be your time!!!
