Hi Sharon and Welcome, Another neighbor. We have so many members from this area. Sorry your first attempt did not work. I don't have PCOS nor have I got to the IVF stage yet so I can't really answer your question. I know there are different degrees of PCOS. Has your Dr. mentioned if they are hopeful. Good luck, this board is a godsend and you will get so much advice, hope, and heartbreak here but we are all in this together and understand what each other is going through.

Hi jennifer
Thanks for the response . Yeah my dr. was very hopeful for me . she advised me to repeat the cycle . She was very satisfied by the way i responded to the inj. but could give me any reason why my cycle failed.
I am just keeping my fingers crossed for the next time .

That is good to know. I have heard some Dr.'s won't treat people they don't think will get pg. It lowers their success rate. I have also heard IVF might take a few cycles.

Sharon, I'm quite new to IF and don't have any info for you... but just wanted to say welcome (unfortunate that we all must "meet" because of IF)... and hope you get your BFP soon!!

Hi Sharon,
I'm going through my 2nd IVF cycle right now. My first cycle, I did get a bfp, but my numbers didn't rise & I started bleeding not long after. This cycle, my dr has switched my meds up a bit, but everything else is the same. I don't have PCOS, but I have been told by my dr many times that I do have polycystic ovaries...not sure what the difference is, honestly. I wish you all the best in your upcoming cycle. I hope this is the one that brings you that sticky bfp.

Again, I don't have pcos, but I do have polycystic ovaries, and I am using menopur. Don't know if that's what you're looking for or not...

Hi Sharon and welcome to the boards. I have never done IVF, but I do suffer from PCOS. I have just done my 3rd injectable cycle and currently in the 2ww. I unfortunatly cannot answer your questions, but I do want to tell you not to give up hope, all is not lost. I have heard that sometimes it takes more that one cycle to be sucessful.
We are here for you if you need us.
Good luck

Yeah i know it takes 2,3 cycles for most of the women to get pregnant. Some lucky ones get BFP on first try itself .
Actually i have read that for pcos fsh ike Follistim is considered better than menopur(combo. of FSH and LH hormones) .The reason is that pcos women already have high LH So i am kind of trying to know which stimulation protocol is considered best for pcos women .
My RE used pure FSH and then added ganerelix on 8th day of stimulation.13eggs retreived,10icsied,2 transferred BFN,3 blasts frozen .

Hello Sharon and welcome;)
I have recently met a girl sharing our IF struggles (besides the ladies here of course, but she is a friend with a face :jester:), she has PCOS, she was taking 50 mg of Clomid 2 years ago and hyperstimulated big time, she produced 50 follicles. so, fast forward to now, she just starting seeing a new RE and just completed her 1st cycle of IVF and is PREGNANT. She did take Metformin, I can get more details for you. So, there is a success story for you. Her RE new ahead of time that she was going to hyperstimulate, but she had severe OHSS, at retreival she had 20 something eggs on each ovary. They retrieved 17 eggs, 11 fertilized but only 5 made it to day 5 they transfered 2 (really good eggs). I know that sometimes with PCOS, you may produce a ton of eggs but because so many are produced they may not be a great quality. Sometimes it is better to produce fewer and get better quality. They monitored her very closely leading up to retrieval.
I hope I helped and I will find out more from her about the Metformin if you would like. I can't remember her dosage, etc.
Lots of luck to you and please don't be discouraged. I am glad you found us.
