**This is my first post here and this might not be the place to post?? If this is off topic for this board, PLEASE point me in the right direction.** Thanks
My mother resides in Tulsa, OK......................
The problem:
My mother will be 60 in two weeks. She is on SSDI and Medicare. She has "looked" into Medicaid, but won't qualify due to her "income." I've searched HIGH and LOW to no avail for a solution to her "FINANCIAL/HEALTH" ordeal. Thank you in advance for helping.
to continue.....my mother recently sold her house and put the money into investment's. She receives $900/mo SSDI, and an additional $300-400 from her investment's. So that's $1,300/mo to pay for everything including a place to live. the PROBLEM is that her medicine, even after being on Medicare Plan D, is $1,100/mo, leaving her $200 to live on and pay ALL bills including housing, which is impossible.
She looked in Medicaid, but her "investment income" is too high. Even with Medicare, and all the coverage gaps included, she still would have to pay out over $12,000/yr after looking at over 54 different Medicare plan D's. She COULD however, put her "investment" monies into an "As needed trust" where Medicaid would allow her to safeguard those monies but there is a HUGE kick to that. If she does that, she can ONLY spend those monies on things like travel expenses or dog food etc. but NOT any LIVING expenses?
So seemingly, all doors keep shutting on me and I can't seem to find ANY solutions.
She could sink all her money into a house, but then she would have zero investment keeping her money in the bank and working to sustain her life and avoid living off handouts. Being only 60, she has a long way to go hopefully.
Is there anyone out there who can point me in the right direction to help find prescription supplement's that don't hold against her, her small capital reserves????
I'm at my wits end and am feeling hopeless. Reminds me of a quote from Will Roger's, "We're all stupid, just in different subject's!" I may be an expert in one thing or the other, I'm no expert in this arena. What an eye opener.
Thank in advance for your help, compassion, and the gift that is your time.
