Hi everyone!

Just wanted to see if anyone has an underactive thyroid and had success getting pregnant?

I'll fill you in on what has been going on. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for a little over 2 years. I had an HSG done back in the beginning of January 2008. Tubes were clear. My DH had a SA done in the beginning of February 2008 and the results were fine. My doctor did some bloodwork to check my thyroid levels and it turns out that I have an Underactive thyroid (Hypothyroidism). I have been taking my Synthroid for about 6 weeks, now, and went yesterday to have more blood drawn to see if the Synthroid is working. (I'm still waiting for the results of that). The doctor said that she wants to get my thyroid levels back to normal before she starts me on Clomid. She said that with an Underactive thyroid, that it causes you not to ovulate. I'm so worried that I'm not going to be able to conceive. If anyone has any information that would help me calm down and help me stay positive, I would really appreciate it. I've been so depressed lately.

Just married.

Brief over view of my story Feel free to ask questions.
Started TTC July 06 got bfp on 1st attempt mc at 7 weeks. After months of TTC did some test and was diagnosed with hypothyroid. %0mcg thyroxine and as soon as my levels were stable (this took about 2 months) started TTC again. Got my bfp on the 2nd cycle.
My son was born 4 weeks ago.

Once your thyroid is contolled you should not have any problems. Thought it is very imp to have it closely monitored as it is thought that my 1st m/c was due to thyroid inbalance.

Good luck

Hi Trying to conceive, my name is laurie, and I know how you feel. I have been trying to conceive for over 2 plus years and no luck yet. My thyroid is also messed up and my endo said that I have hypothyroidism too. My gynocologist put me on clomid and it didn't work. I too don't ovulate and only did 1-2 times while on clomid. She did check my hormone levels and said they were very low but did nothing for them. I took advice from a relative and went to an endocrinologist and he has me on cytomel to get my thyroid working correctly. I told him my situation with not ovulating and he said well DUH!!!!!! You won't if your not producing hormones cause of your thyroid. I'm still not ovulating but have only been on cytomel for 3 weeks. I had to go back for my yearly with my gynocologist and I told her about seeing the endo and she was not happy, she said I wish you would of come to me first, and my thought was WHERE HAVE I BEEN FOR OVER 2 YEARS WITH NO SUCCESS AND YOU WERE THE ONE WHO SAID MY HORMONES WERE LOW AND DIDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. That will be the last time I see her. I have to go back to the endo in a few weeks and see what he says and how my bloodtest are. I WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK. IF ANYONE ELSE HAS SOME GOOD SUGGESTIONS ABOUT THIS PLEASE LET ME KNOW.. THANK YOU ALL SO SO SO MUCH.

Hey everyone!

I got my results back from my 6 week bloodwork for my hypothyroism. It turns out that my thyroid is worse off then when I first went for the bloodwork the first time. The first results for my thyroid were slightly elevated (4.5). The doctor put me on 25mg of Synthroid. I got the 6 week bloodwork results back and my thyroid level is elevated even higher (6.5). I don't understand how it could get elevated more, if I was taking my medication as directed. Now, I'm on Synthroid 50mg. I have to go back for another 6 week bloodwork, in May. I'm hoping that my thyroid levels will be fine. I can't start the clomid until my thyroid is stabilized. This is horrible news for me. I'm so depressed and I feel that I will never have a chance to become a mommy. :(

I understand what you are going through i was on the same boat....it takes some time for things to be stabilised. in my case i had to sit out 2 cycles before i could ttc again. That was sooooo tough. Though stabilsing your thyroid will increase your chances ....you will get your bfp ........don t give up.
