Finally I am not thinking ms 24/7 I now catch myself not thinking about it and it feels good.I read a book about ms a personal experience and found myself more scared I guess if you could predict the outcome it would be easier to deal with I find the waiting game painfull. Could someone discribe there eye problems with ms and does anybody have large floaters

I can't say that I've had eye problems, just the occasional twitching but my mom works for an eye doctor and, according to her, floaters are normal. Now, as for size of floaters I don't know but I would recommend you go to an eye doctor to have them checked out. I know many times an eye doc sees something during exams that leads them to recommend their patient go see a neurologist. The most common eye issues are related to ON (optic neuritis) which is a common symptom of MS. If you do have ON, then the eye doctor can diagnosis this.

I was told by my neuro today that floaters are normal (I have them too, and large). I also have twitching around my right eye (usually worse when I am tired). Best :)

I've had both nystagmus (jumping of the visual field do to eye muscles problems) and Optical neuritis (vision loss, one eye). I've had ON in both eyes and the nystagmus comes and goes, been mostly gone for the last couple of years. I have floaters too, caused by near-sightedness I think-

Im also a veteran of optical neuritis, have had it 3 times...
floaters and the occasional eye tick are normal- they arent even MS related...however, ON is very much a symtom of MS and it hurts! The only treatment for ON that is usually prescribed is IV SOluMedrol..they no longer recommend doing the dose pack of prendisone....nystagmus is also common, but not as common as ON- I havent experienced it, but can imagine the discomfort that accompanies it....

Dont start worrying about eye problems- when you focus on worrying about them, they happen! I dont mean that sarcastically either..but it seems like when you really worry about something, you convince your body to give you issues....if you have eye issues related to MS or even remotely to MS, you will know it. The first thing youll notice is that colors are off, or their are grey patches in your vision...ON hurts when you move your eyes, especially side to side...if you experience any of that get to an opthamologist immediatly and let them decide if a Neuro-opthamologist is needed. I see one every 6 months now that Ive experienced ON so many times...
hope you never have to go thru it!

Zadie,

Its good that your not thinking MS 24/7 as it can consume you.

I have had my bouts with ON,it can cause blurred vision, pain upon moving the eyes, dim vision, color distortion, especially with red and green.

nystagmus is common in MS a particular form called interocular opthalmalpegia

I'm sure I spelled that wrong its abbreviated as INO/BINO,detected through a VNG,its a form of ocular movement disorder.

I have bilaterial ON,usually not common in MS,but over time on can effect one eye and then effect the other. As time passes the damage can be permanant.I also have INO/BINO which causes my eyes to bounce back and forth especially when reading.

Zadie,if your eyes are giving you trouble see an opthamologist soon as possible.

Try to relax, rejoice if this turns out to not be ms,remember theres several inavasive disorders that mimic MS.

Duttin have been told by ms specialist that I have ms 3 new lesions etc , still he is waiting on one more eposide or mri movement to dx completly and to begin meds has sent letter to my gp to confirm this the reason I ask about the eyes is I am having an evoked potentials test in fourdays. My eyes have been giving my a bit of grief everything just seems a bit strange and about six months ago my sight went foggy for about 2 hours then came good thought at the time that it was brain fog but it was my eyesight. I also have a strange thing happen when walking from a well lit room into a dark room my eyes flash as if adjusting to the different levels of light. Also in fluro lit room have a strange surreal feeling.
