Hi again Michele...Visual Evoked Potentials are a piece of cake! They set you up with leads attached to your head- so it feels strange, but there is absolutely no pain involved. I watched a TV screen with little dots on it....and I held a clicker in my hand. When I saw the dots, I clicked the clicker! They did it one eye at a time, with the other one covered up with an eye patch. But, it takes about ten minutes per eye and thats that. They are measuring how quickly you react to seeing things, and the leads measure the electrical current somehow..but they dont shock you, or do anything at all that hurts..
They can also measure the peripheral vision, the spots which the sides of your eyes pick up doing this test.
When its over, they remove the leads (no pain) and send you home. My advice- wear a hat! You get goop in your hair which really needs to be shampooed out! Other than that, nothing to it!
Ok? relax..easy test!
