I was just wondering how much to expect to spend on this surgery? And how overweight would you need to be to be considered. I am about 50 lbs heavier then I should be and climbing rapidly :( My BMI is way too high.

I don't think you are a candidate for gastric bypass. The rules are usually 100 pounds overweight and a BMI of 40 or over. Have you tried regular diets? If you have, you may be a candidate for the belly band.

To be considered for gastric bypass, you have to be AT LEAST 100 pounds overweight, with a BMI of over 40, and have problems from your obesity, like diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea. Surgery can cost between 15,000 and 30,000 dollars, depending on where it's done, and the surgeon. That price does not include any complications that can occur, and I don't know if it covers your lifetime follow-up or not.

For the most part they are right you do have to have a bmi of 40 or over and 100 lbs overwight. But you dont have to have health issues like high blood pressure ect. As long as you meet the other requirements. But you might be a canidiate for the lapband. I dont think id want the surgery for only 50 lbs it a drastic surgery ive had it.
Good luck.
