Hi, I'm new. Anyway, I had problems with irreg. periods last summer, 3 in one month, went on birth control, then straightened out with different meds. Things are normal now, but Dr. says I would be a good candidate for NOVA SURE. I don't have extremely heavy periods, but would have the Ablation done for Birth Control and / or to get through Menopause. Does anyone out there have any opinions on this?? I would love to not have any more periods. Is this being selfish? or is this a worthy consideration?? curiosmom59

I am not sure what the benefits would be to have this done if your periods are somewhat normal now. The thing to know is this can not be used as a form of birth control. It is possible to get pregnant after this but not advised as serious complications can arise. You still need to use birth control. Also many women still get a period after this procedure. I had this done a year ago. I still have a period but it is more like a normal one and not the extreme heavy bleeding like before.

I had NovaSure done in the beginning of January..i too, was told NOT TO count on it for birth control- I wound up also having a tubal at the same time.
THe procedure was painless and quick recovery- however I too, still get very light periods. I had it done because I have MS, and losing blood each month was causing me to have anemic problems...so, now its much lighter, but still happens...I no longer have to worry about pregnancy, due to the tubal ligation.
Hope this helps.
