Does anyone know if it is safe to do the Lasik when you have MS
Do you need to see a specialist? which one? What are the risks?
Thanks Natalie

Hi Natalie. I had Lasik done about 4 months before my MS dx....didnt know I had MS then or I wouldnt have thrown away the money. First of all, it was great- but within 3 months, my eyes startd changing, and I needed NEW contacts/glasses again..
When my bout of ON hit (optical neuritis) my prescription changed again- and I needed new scripts for both glasses and contacts. At this point, I realized or was told I had MS and things were stable for less than 6 months when I needed new scripts yet again.

How safe is it to have it done? probably as safe as it is for anyone else- however the results arent going to stay the same for long...youre spending alot of money not knowing if or when youll have eye problems or how they will affect you in the future. Have you discussed this with your Neuro?
have a good day.
Nikki

Thanks Nikki
No, I did not discussed it with my Nero, nor with any other doctor, I just thought to do something to lift my spirit up and to look better without glasses.....but you have a pointm, I will discuss it with my doctors and will let you know.
Thanks again,

Natalie

Rem, I felt the exact same way- thats why I had it done. Personally, it was a huge mistake a huge chunk of change which I never should have spent..
I also always wore contacts, and since my second bout of ON- havent been able to wear them for more than a few hours at a time, which rules out wearing them for work anymore..
SO- I went out and bought really great designer frames, which cost WAY too much money- and I love them! The bad news is Ive had to replace the script in them three times, but the good news is, the glasses actually did pick me up- they are really cute!
Go out and buy new eye makeup- its cheaper! Or, treat yourself to whatever it is that gets you going! Surgery shouldnt be a priority and trust me, that surgery was not easy...it really hurt. My tubal which I went thru last month was easier!
I am now finding out that I have the beginning of a cataract- and Im only 41. They say this MIGHT be causd by the steroids Ive been on, due to the ON..
its a no win situation. Talk to your doctor before making the same mistake I did, okay??
hugs
