Hi Everyone,

I am currently taking Lyrica for nerve pain, and while it works well for that specific problem, my Fibromyalgia pain has really flared up, especially at night. Doctor gave me some 200mg samples of Celebrex. I've taken a couple here and there, but they have not helped with the severe aches I suffer. I am leery of taking more Aleve/Tylenol, etc, since their efficacy is minimal and I am already swollen from the Lyrica.

Do I need to take Celebrex on a regular basis for some period of time before it becomes effective with my fibro pain? I find it interesting that Lyrica is now being prescribed for fibromyalgia, yet it is not helping my fibro pain (unless I would be in much worse pain without it).

What else can I take with the Lyrica? I am going to the doc soon to discuss alternatives to the Lyrica (such as Neurontin) but I still need something for the fibro pain. One night I took some leftover hydrocodone, but since I have sleep apnea (using CPAP), I felt like it really slowed down (and at times stopped) my breathing, despite the machine. A little scary, to say the least.

Just take me out and shoot me....

Yes, you need to take it on a consistant basis for instance I take 400 mg a day which is 1 200 mg every 12 hrs. You need to take regularly so it can build up in your system to feel the benefits from it. Even if you think it nots really working you can tell when you stop taking it. I take it for arthritis and if I don't take it I can tell especially in my hands. When I don't take it like I should my hands get where I can hardly write or button up my clothes or other small things.
