View Full Version : organizations that might help financially with aids for ALS patients

I am wondering if there are any organizations that would help pay for aids needed for a ALS person? Such as buying a lift vest to help when tranferring the ALS patient from bed to wheelchair and transferring on to a doctor's exam table. The care giver is not going to be able to keep "bear hugging" her without hurting his own back in the process. Thanks for any tips you can share with me. A very concerned friend

Hello RIO,

Have you discussed this with her doctor?

Depending on the insurance, it may be covered.

Take care.

Is the patient or her husband a veteran? If so you might want to contact the Veterans' Administration to see what programs are available.

Many companies will accept the amt ins. pays if the family has a financial hardship. Maybe you could check around with different companies and then get the order for it from the doc.
