I've just started posting a few days ago and have been reading all the messages here...Wow! I felt so alone until a few days ago when I found this website. Even though I've had MVP for 14 years. I never had many bad symptoms. Now I am suffering from heart palpatations like I've never had before. I'm under a lot of stress due to a very recent death in the family...I started drinking heavily after this and for the last 6 days I've had constant palpatations, not much pain and the palpatations aren't waking me from my sleep...but 6 days! Nothing but Fluttering and Skipping...I still feel okay , no loss of energy or anything like that, but I'd just like to know if anyone out there has had days on end of palpatations. Have you had several days in a row of this problem? What brought it on? Did they finally subside? Was it stress? Was it alcohol? I'm planning to see a doctor as soon as I can...I have no insurance. I'm also posting replies to some of the previous messages left on this website. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

A death in the family can cause great stress to your heart via your emotional feelings and can take awhile to work through. Alcohol is not recommended for a heart under duress.
I have had MVP for about twelve years with varying symtoms as I have grown older. Good diet and exercise, and some form of theraputic intervention can help reduce the stress and strain that comes with different life experiences.
In my experience with MVP a lot of self-discipline is required to stay within my performance limits. I had to learn to recognize when I am overdoing it, and ease off somewhat just before I reach that limit.
I have found that an afternoon rest for about a half hour to forty-five minutes can make the rest of the day worthwhile and productive. I have also found that an overworked heart that is trying to catch its breath can make it difficult to sleep at night.

I have palps every day all day long. When I am in bed at night and before I get up in the morning I feel it. I am so tired of this! I need to go back to the doctor to see what to do. I mean this is every day all day long! I do have Toprol but have never been much of a user of this.
