I had open heart surgery about 4 months ago and have recovered very well. But I have this problem I am having pain in my chest again. My doctor told me there is nothing wrong with my heart that it is inflamation in my chest cavity. I want to know if anybody else has this problem. It is very painfull and it scares me to death. Please let me know
Thank you

Adjusting to the aftermath of heart surgery may take awhile as you learn to expore your new ranges.

I know a number of people who have experienced having open heart surgery and the healing process has held something different for everyone of them.

As far as I know they are all still alive and functioning according to their ages and interests. Each had to learn to live within the results of their surgery.

Four months equates to approximately 120 days, which is not a very long time. Being "scared to death" sounds like an appropriate psychological reaction and suggests that you are cautiously paying attention to how you are feeling.

If your doctor has told you that inflamation is the cause of your painful sensations, who could advise you better of your condition?

Hi Chanell, I too had open heart surgery and I am now into my 7th month of recovery. I have gone through a range of pain and discomfort from the surgery but it has gotten better with time. I still have some discomfort in my chest from time to time and it comes on with certain things that I do, Like climbing a hill during my walk. I believe that yours will get better with time, your rib cage is still healing and trying to knit back together after being pulled apart. Your doctor gave you meds for pain right? Try taking them for the pain and see if it helps. If you have anymore questions, let me know http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Take Care, Mandee
