View Full Version : Very Worried about my husband Help!

I made a doctors appointment for my husband for tomorrow morning. He is going whether or not I have to hog time him and take him in!
He is overweight about 70-80 pounds. He is 6'3" and weighs 285. He also has a drinking problem and smokes a lot when he drinks which I think is making his problem worse.
He works overnight and came in this morning and told me last night at work when he had to bend over at the waist that his chest started hurting and his face felt tingly.
He says also sometimes he can feel his heart beat outside his chest. He describes it like his skin is jumping and his heart is just going nuts for a few seconds. This comes and goes. I can understand this because I have mvp and have severe palpatations sometimes, especially if I have forgotten to take my meds that day.
He also has been saying that his legs fall asleep a lot, standing or sitting and he has tingly feelings sometimes in his fingers. We do know he has high blood pressure but insurance just became effective and he can finally go to a doc.
Can anyone offer us some advice to what this is?

Yes i agree , Take him into an ER .. and demand and ekg & an echo if nothing seems to come up , ask for a holter monitor. It could very well be an early detection for cardiac arrest. BEST OF LUCK http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/angel.gif

Thanks for your advice everyone
We did take a trip to the ER about a month ago when his palpatations go real bad one night and he said he couldn't breathe.
The ER nurse could feel the palps when she was taking his pulse but the EKG showed up nothing.
He has been feeling like this on and off for a while now. I found out he was taking Mini Thins - an very potent energy pill and it made it worse when he was on them.
He works overnights and won't be home until probably 30 minutes until time to go to the doctor (the appointment is at 9:45 am)
and now he is trying to back out of going to see the doctor. He is seeing my doctor and I know this doc if something is wrong he won't quit until he finds it.
He is saying now well the doc will probably tell me its nothing and send me home and anyways I'll be too tired from working all night.
I am making him go no matter what excuse he has!
He is very stubborn and I can't make him see that something is really wrong.

Um also we found out about a year ago from his aunt who is a nurse and anesthesiologist that he had a hole in his heart when he was born and had a childhood heart murmur that his doctor told him when he was young that he grew out of.
Again though they ran tests on him in the ER and found nothing.
