Hi everyone, I have a question. How soon after Bypass Surgery is it safe to get an MRI? I was in a MVA 9 months ago and have a right shoulder injury that could well be a torn rotator cuff. 5 weeks after the MVA I had a heart attack and had to have a single bypass and I have metal in my cheat from the surgery. I need to get an MRI to find out the status of my shoulder, and I was scheduled for one 4 months after surgery but the radiologist said it was too soon and I would have pain from having an MRI so soon after surgery. It is now 7 months after surgery and they are wanting to do the MRI now. Has anyone had an MRI after bypass surgery and what if any problems were there? I am a chicken now to have it done because of the metal in my chest and could sure use some advice about this. Thank you in advance for any and all replies.

Take Care, Mandee
