Hi all!
I'm new here and I need some help/advice. I'm 34 yrs old female who used to drink really heavily due to stress, depression,..1-2 bottles of wine almost every day, some days off alcohol in between, for the last 5 years.I gave up a couple of months ago when after a treatment with erythromycin and paracetamol(3grs/day) I drank alcohol and I went sick with diarrhea, since then I haven't had a normal BM, alternating constipation with loose stools, mucus in stool, sometimes I can see undigested food, the stool is dark green colour and recently has got lots of pinpoint size black dots. I went to the Doc and did full blood tests for FLT,bilirubin, anemia, total protein, also a stool test and all came back negative.
I noticed my eyes a bit yellowish under the eylid, but doctor says bilirubin is fine, so it's not jaundice, also I noticed I've had pinpoint size red dots distribuited over my upper body, which the doc said it was petechiae, caused by alcohol intake, he gave me ranitidine for the digestion, but after 2 days I had to stop it as I got bleeding gums in the morning, also my gums always bled when brushing and my doctor says I've got gingivitis,he did another blood test, CBC and PT for clotting disorder, which came back normal, also urine and another stool test for occult blood, which again came back normal. He says all I've got is stress, but wherever I look up it says my syntoms are those of cirrhosis.
He has ordered an US, which I'm having in a few days. Has anyone got syntoms like these with normal blood tests? Could it be a reaction to the paracetamol+antibiotic with the alcohol?
Some answers would be very much appreciated.
thanks a lot

about 3 years ago I was going through almost the same symptoms as you, although I did not drink much I went to the doctor and was shocked when he told me I had autoimmune hepatitis. My liver enzines were very high. We had hoped it was from medications I take for asthma. I had to take blood test every eight weeks and finally the liver count came back to normal. I do have autoimmune hepatitis still but not cirrhosis of the liver. I would ask your doctor to take the blood tests over again for this. Dont be scared=I know it can scary but with the right doctor you will be okay. I wish you luck and please let me know what happens. sherry62

Hello Sherryk and Monkey and thank you very much for your replies and advice.
I ended up paying to see a private gastroenterologist, who did a full abdomen US and said averything appeared normal, it was a relief as I was really worried about my liver, I know an US doesn't rule out cirrhosis, but sometimes it can show there are some problems with the liver. My GI problems haven't got better, but I'm changing my diet while I wait for a colonoscopy. I blame everything to the alcohol abuse and when I took the paracetamol with the alcohol, but this doc doesn't seem to find a relation with that...
My dark circles under eyes and bagginess don't seem to go away, I've read they can be kidney/liver related, they appeared after the incident with the paracetamol-alcohol.
Thanks for your advice and I'll keep you updated.
take care
nela

please dont worry stress is a big part of how we are feeling. I know its not easy to do that(know first hand) but try. When will you have the colonscopy? Today I have an appointment to go over blood test and cultures with my doctor. Not too crazy about that. Please feel free to ask me anything,I know how you feel very scary thing-but we ARE going to make it! Let me know how you are doing, sherry
