if you had a cold sore and gave someone oral sex who end up having herpes does that mean you as the giver also has herpes

If you have had, do have, or have ever had a cold sore you carry the herpes virus. It is probably Type 1. A doctor may or may not tell you this, however. If you have herpes type 1 orally for a while and your body built up antibodies, you won't get type 1 genitally but you can get type 2 genitally. If you had Type 1 for long enough before you got Type 2, it would lessen the effects. But if you got them at the same time or close to each other, that "immunity" wouldn't be as evident. If you have type 1 orally, then yes - it can be transmitted by kissing. I think you would find it helpful to download the "Herpes Handbook" by Terri Warren.
