Hello,

My wife has been dealing with anxiety for some time now. She went through wellbutrin, zoloft which were not good for her. Pexeva seemed to work but had sexual side effects. Her psychiatrist took her off Pexava and kept her on Klonopin which at that time (one year ago was about 1.5mg per day) She has been increased to Klonopin to 3.5 mg per day for about couple of months but this is making her very tired, groggy etc. She mentioned this to her doctor and he switched her to Ativan 3 mg per day (told her this would not make her too tired, just relax her etc) Today she just took the first two doses today and she started getting very shaky, nervous etc..) I don't think Ativan is the solution. Any insight on this situation would be greatly appreciated. Pexeva may have to come back ???

Has she tried Buspar?

Non habit forming, no drowsiness

I would give the med more time before concluding anything. Maybe this is just how her body reacts to it until she's used to it. Maybe it's withdrawal from a previous drug she's been taking?

Maybe you can try starting at a very low dose and increasing gradually over time to see if that helps.

Not sure really.. but there are plenty of other benzodiazepines besides Klonopin and Ativan, so if Ativan isn't working at all, she's not out of luck in that area. Also as mentioned above, Buspar might be good. Or maybe Klonopin with something else for the grogginess/fatigue.
