I had a cold sore for the first time in my life about a month ago-I have just been diagnosed with HSV1.

I thought it was just a pimple very close to my mouth and tried putting different ointments on it before I decided to try abreva. I did pick at it a little not knowing what it was.

Now I have a pink spot and it's embarassing. :( I know that it's only been a month since I had it, but I'm nervous that this spot won't go away. I may go see a dermatologist and ask what I can do about it, but before I waste my money on that.........

Does anyone know of anything to deal with a scar? Is it normal for there to be a pink spot after for a few weeks?

I am trying to not make a big deal out of this since I guess most people only have cold sores once or twice a year, but I don't want scars on my lip :mad:
