Well my sister is 9 years old, she is very healthy but last week she went to the hospital because she had a bad rash and flu but they left her overnight because her heart rate was 130. The doctors did eco's, blood samples, xrays and apprantly everything is good, they were going to transfer her to the childrens hospital if her heart rate didn't slow down, eventually it did. Now she went to her check up and again she had a fast heart rate, they did some blood samples and an electrocardiogram and it was normal. I don't really get whats happening with her, she dosen't feel any pain or shortness of breath she is active and has never had these problems before. But she gets nervous easily and scared. Its obvious that a child gets scared to go to the doc. Sometimes she's a little anxious. I'm worried because she is very young to be having a fast heart rate and well we don't have any heart disease history in our family we are all really healthy. Any feedback will help, my mom is going to take her to a cardiologist so he can see her, hopefully she has no major issues.

hersheys1228--When I go to the ER I have Tachycardia too 135 pulse. Then after I calm down it goes down to normal. All other times I am fine (I am 46 by the way) but when I see a doc I have to take meds so that doesn't happen. I feel bad for your little sister she is too young to go through this. I am anxious as well. I think she is probably just scared. Good luck to you both. FLFLOWERGIRL:)

Hersh.. that is not a very high heart rate for a 9 year old. Just the illness alone would have caused that. Why they did a lot of those tests is to rule out kawaskis disease. Bad rash along with the others can be a sign of it. If her tests for kawaskis comes back negative I would doubt there is anything to be concerned with at this point, unless she is symptomatic when not being sick.

I'm sorry to hear about your sister! Is it possible that she could have a thyroid problem? Even kids can have problems with their thyroid and that can certainly cause a fast heartbeat.
