View Full Version : Do some people just have more sensitive hearts?

Or are we more aware of our heart beats than most? I say this because I have pvc's and have noticed that I am always feeling or noticing my heart beat. If I'm lying in bed going to sleep, I feel my heart beating. When I get up in the morning, I am always aware of my heart beating. Sometimes when I get up I feel like it is beating too fast, when indeed I am in a normal range.

Also, as I mentioned, I have pvc's pretty often. Like most of us, I have good days and bad days. Mostly good, but I have been to three different Dr.s who have all told me, "Everyone has them(pvc's). You just notice yours more than the rest of us." One Cardiologist told me, "I can stop your pvc's, but I'd have to stop your heart." I guess meaning as long as my heart is beating, I'm going to have pvc's. So do we folks who have the pvc's, are we just more aware or have more of a sensitivity to our heart rate than others? If everyone has them, how come not everyone complains about them?

Anyway, I was more or less wondering if others share my heart beat awareness. Are you constantly feeling your heart beat? Do you worry about having a heart attack like me and if so, do you think this only aggrevates the problem of noticing your heart beats? I think if I wasn't as atuned with my heart, I wouldn't notice this near as much.

Sometimes I feel like it's more of a mental thing than a physical one.

Seldom am I NOT aware of my heart beat. I complained also to the doc and was told ....be glad its beating. HA! It doesn't help when you get anxiety because of the constant PVCs. The times that I do not feel my heart beat is heaven! I feel so relaxed and almost "normal".

I have found magnesium tablets give me the most relief from this, and take one at any time I can feel my heartbeat, regardless of whether or not I am having PVCs. I have talked to people I know who are NEVER aware of their heartbeat, and I just can't imagine. I can't remember ever a time that I was unaware of it.

Fear of heart attack.....always at the back of my mind. I suppose it's because of the super awareness of your heart that it's always there. I think what you are feeling, is pretty normal for someone with lots of PVCs!

I take my magnesium when it bothers me, and enjoy the time that my heart is "quiet". Try to relax, anxiety can make it worse.

Yeah some people are just much more aware of their heartbeats. I was describing PVCs to a friend the other day who was horrified and said she couldn't imagine ever feeling her heart pause even for a moment. I feel it pause 100s of times on my bad days, so I'm jealous of her!!

Like you guys, I feel my heartbeat basically 24/7. I don't even have to put my fingers on my wrist to take my pulse. I can take it just by looking at the clock and feeling it beat in my chest as I always do.

And yes, those days when it's mercifully quiet and steady are so beautiful.
