I would really appreciate your input. My shoulder started making popping sounds when my arm is moved. It does it all day long, and people can hear it! I could be making the bed, reaching to pick up a cup; any movement can trigger it. I am right handed and my right shoulder does it the most, but my left side does it as well, just not as often. Every now and then before I would hear the popping, but over the last couple of weeks, it has become unbearable. I use my arm to write on a dry erase board throughout the day while teaching. I am only 29 years old. Do you think it is arthritis? What type of doctor should I see? Thank you for any advice.

Does it HURT or just make popping sounds? It it isn't hurting I wouldn't worry about it. Your family doctor would be the place to start.

Thank you for your reply. It doesn't really hurt, but it becomes uncomfortable after periods of frequent popping. I am going to make an appointment...

My shoulders used to pop like that when I'd first get up and swing my arms while walking around the house. It didn't hurt, but was very annoying. I haven't had that in a long time.

Hi sunshine123, Your popping quit? Maybe there is hope for me... Did something in your lifestyle change? I am wondering if I need to do some strength training to build my muscles back up. I haven't worked out in a couple of years and I've become a little weak. I have also driven a manual shift car for the last 7 years, so I'm starting to wonder if that has had something to do with it. I'm going to the chiropractor this week; she is very knowledgeable. I'm going to ask her, and if she refers me to another doctor, I will go. Thanks for your input.

I'm not really sure why my popping quit. I also used to get cracking everytime I moved my neck. Talk about annoying. It's possible that fish oil has helped me. Acupuncture helps also. Driving a stick shift could be responsible for that. Hope your Chiropractor will be able to help. :)
