I’m just so frustrated that I don’t know what to do with myself. This is my second cycle temping. (I had a m/c back in September) Last cycle was perfect, I had the EWCM and my temperatures were clear and showed ovulation. I O’d on CD 20 last time. And today, I’m on CD23 and nothing!
All last week, I had EWCM and last Tuesday (CD14), I had so much that when I went to the restroom, it just poured out (I’m so sorry!! TMI!) I even had a huge temperature dip on that day too. My temps have really just been up and down since then and I’m just dry now. What is the deal? The conditions seemed perfect with the heavy EWCM and temperature dip. I’ve been given Prometrium to take for a luteal phase defect and I’m suppose to start that the day after ovulation and well, obviously, I can’t begin that.
At what point can I be put on Clomid? And also, at what point should I begin seeing an RE? (I’m just seeing my regular OB/GYN right now.)

I don't know everything but my suggestion is go see the RE. I believe they know much more than an ob/gyn about infertility. I had my gyn tell me I wasn't O'ing by looking at my temp charts but the RE said I was O'ing just fine. Clomid will give you less EWCM. They ususally start that around cycle days 2, 3, 4, or 5. Its always so much to remember. Good luck!

Oh dear, temping can get a little frustrating sometimes. Have you tried using the OPKs along with the temping? If you have no more EWCM it sounds that the ovulation is over, but you can get a blood test, I think is the CD 21 test, to see if you ovulated already. I know you are already on day 23 but you can ask your GYN about it. Maybe its done on day 21 for a normal day 14 ovulation cycle. Its possible, I heard that we dont ovulate quite every month. You can also check for the cervix position.
Hope this helps.
Good luck,

CW,
Hey sweetie, I won't fret too much about charting, I don't think it is quite so reliable. I would recommend Ovulation Predictor Tests. Esp if you are noticing the EWCM, that is def a sign of O. I was originally charting my temps with my old GYN but then my new one said, don't waste your time, by the time you notice a dip in temps, chances are you have already O'd. I know, not very good news and I know it is cheaper, but don't beat yourself up.
As far as soliciting advice from an RE, it is up to you, depending how long you have been trying, etc. But I say the sooner the better to get expert advice from an RE, even if you absolutely love your GYN, sometimes this IF stuff is way over their head and I wouldn't want you to ride this IF rollercoaster any longer than necessary.
As far as clomid, it made my EWCM even more noticable, but suppose everyone is different, but I could def tell I was Oing.
I also took Prometrium for a luteal phase defect when I say GYN but I have heard that Clomid also helps to correct this. Also, when I saw RE he told me I don't have LPD. So, again, sometimes well meaning GYNs try to diagnose us and they don't have quite all the knowledge.
I wish you tons of luck and sorry this is so long

Thankyou for the quick responses, ladies. I really appreciate it! I’ve tried opks twice and never could get a positive. Of course, I could have easily been off on my O day. Last cycle was so clear with perfect temps so I decided not to spend all the money for OPKs anymore but now, I just don’t know what to do. I miscarried back in September and had a D&C. It was a long recovery (left over tissue and had to wait it out until I passed it). So it took about 4 months for me to get any kind of period and that was in January. So after that period, we officially started trying. Had I recovered quicker, we would have began trying ASAP. So we’ve only been trying for a couple months now so I suppose I just have to wait it out and see what this year holds. I read that you have to try for a year with no success before anything can really start to get done. But thanks again for the responses and letting me vent. :(

Hi CW I noticed that in your post you mentioned that you have a luteal defect I was wondering whether maybe you did ovulate when you thought you did but maybe your not producing enough progesterone therefore your temp isnt rising as it should.Or it may be that your body geared up for ovulation but didnt actually release the egg so the same again not producing enough progesterone, this doesnt neccessarily mean there is a problem as it can happen to the most fertile of women every now and again but perhaps just to put your mind at ease maybe you should go to your DR and ask him to do a blood test just to see what your progesterone levells are, this may give you some indication as to what is going on at the moment. Wishing you all the best.

Thanks Cash! That makes me feel better. My last cycle's luteal phase was 11 days so after that, my doc prescribed me Prometrium to take next day. I don't start taking it until I see the spike in temps which I haven't seen that yet. Will I still start my period soon like I would if I had O'd? Thanks again. I greatly appreciate it.
