Does anyone have a good PM near me? The one I'm going to is horrible and I won't go back. He's always cancelling appts, and he feels no one in pain should be on anything higher than Vicodin ES and he won't give you more than 2 a day!
He feels we need to see a Psychiatrist to learn how to handle our pain.
I live outside of the city of Pittsburgh.
Please help if you can.

Hope-
I'm not from your area, but I would recommend speaking with your GP for a referral to another PM doctor, or speak with whichever of your doctors referred you to the one you are seeing now.
You can also check the Physician Registry at your local hospitals. They usually have a listing of doctors and their specialties.
Hope this helps some. Take care!!

The irony of the situation is in most PM clinics, if the patient routinely cancels appointments, they get dismissed.
As big of an area as you are in, I'd say there are plenty of alternatives. Ask your GP or any other Doc you know. Nurses are usually a great source of information because they know all the Docs and will usually be straight up with you.
Good luck.

I do not live in your area...just wanted to let you know that I really do understand how upsetting it is to have to get a new PM Dr. I do not undertand why they have to act in such uncivilized ways. I really thought they were practicing pain management because they understood what we (people in pain) are going through. It is hard enough without all of the power plays etc some of they try. I was almost totally emotionally destroyed this week by a new PM Dr., but everyone on this board has been so kind....I just wanted to return the gift of hope and kindness that was given to me. I hope you find a new PM Dr...who is entirely different...and kind to you. Feel better soon.

Thanks to all of you for your kindness.
I called my regular dr but the nurse said they couldn't recommend another PM dr because they aren't sure if they will take my insurance.
So I called my insurance co and got a few names.
My question is.........When I call to make an appt with a new PM what questions should I ask.......and should I let them know I am leaving this PM Dr? I'm afraid he will tell the new one I'm a drug seeker :(
I have had fibro for 9yrs, the first 6 I did ok and just took it easy when needed and used icy hot and lots of hot baths. 2 yrs ago I seeked help because I could no longer manage the pain on my own.
Ive been on Vicodin ES 1 pill a day for a few months then 2 a day for 2 months. I'm so new to this, and this guy is making me feel like a junkie :(
Honestly is what I have been on ALOT? I have no idea!
