i take ativan as needed which is not much even though i need it everyday, just scared of medicine. anyways i took small dose (very sensitive to medicine) last night and today when i felt like it was wearing off i got so anxious and jittery and shakey like i had the chills. is that from the ativan wearing off and my body getting back to its normal anxious state?

It is possible. I know if you have been taking it consistently over a period that it can develop. Maybe the reason you are so anxious hasn't left yet? I know for me just thinking about anxiety at times can bring it on.

If you don't take it frequently, and especially if the dose isn't high, then it's unlikely to be a withdrawal effect from the Ativan. But you could just be very sensitive...

You have Ativan to take as-needed, and you say you need it everyday, so why not take it everyday, or ask your doc for a long term solution?

Ativan has the same effect on me. If I take it for even one or two days, I'll have severe insomnia for two or three nights after - the really frustrating kind where you're exhausted, you're almost asleep but you can never quite drop off :(. Valium and Xanax don't result in the same problem - go figure.
