I started taking Valtrex only when I have outbreaks to shorting the time and making it less painful and itchy. My question is that my doseage is for 5 days at a time, but it seems to generally clear up with in the first two to three days. So lets say on the forth day there is nothing there, but im still finishing up my meds, should i still abstain from having sex, with a condom? or am i suppose to wait till im done with my medication even if there is nothing present? Any input would help, im stumped on what to do with this. My partner is obviously not infected and does know my status.

The rule of thumb is to wait a full day after symptoms go away.

My as needed dosage is to take 2 a day for 3 days, not 5.
