well just so you know i have PVC's and taking meds. Iv been under some fast stress today and decided to go to bed. thats when i felt 4 strong beats in a row, normally when i have a PVC it feels like a skipped beat, ie a pause, but i dont know what to think. what exactly happened was my pvc's were close together every other to every 3rd beat so i was taking my pulse to make sure it was not elevated, and then it happened, 4 in a row, i felt the stong pulse in my neck where i was taking it, so i dont think they were themselves pvc's (no pause in any of them) It happened again, but 6 forcefull beats, but this time i was checking my wrist, no pause in the rythm of my heart, it then happened a third time, and it had a pause after the second one...so it seems they may not be pvc related palups, but it really freaked me out, what do you guys think?

"3 in a row
ot thump thump thmp"

did you mean NOT thump thump thump? cause when i had my palips, my neck thumped and the vain in my wrist where i was taking my pulse was beating, no pauses, im starting to think it was just forcefull contractions due to my stress and anxioty.

any odd beating 3 in a row
like skip skip skip not normal beating in the middle of it
it doesnt matter where you feel it in the neck or where it is still your heart beat

so just to make sure,

a palipatation can happen even if your heart is in a normal rythym?

so if i have 6 palipitations in a row, but havea normal rythym, ie beat beat beat beat, but all are palips, that can happen?

You should definitely see a doctor, but don't get too scared about it.. I had PVCs since I was a child.. Like LOTS of PVCs.. It was NOTHING for me to get a run of up to 10 PVCs at a time, and I lived 27 years like that! They just did an ablation on me to get rid of my PVCs and it WORKED! The ablation was done last Wed and I haven't had ONE PVC since!! The night before the ablation they had me hooked to the heart monitor and it was constantly beeping! It would beep when I'd have more than 10 a minute, and when I'd have "couplets" (two in a row) and when I'd have a "run" (3 or more in a row) and it was beeping because of "uni-focal PVCs". That machine seriously was beeping all the time, and I'm still alive! ;-) So more than likely they are more annoying than serious. But definitely get them checked.

if they are skipping or something all in a row i was told to see a doctor if they came 3 at one time.I think palpitation means pounding heat.Im talking about odd beats

If I went to the doctor every time I had more than 3 in a row....I would be at his office constantly.;)

thanks guys, you have been helpful. I get to see my cardio tomorrow afternoon, pretty nervous bout it.

but i am starting to think that the palips were just hardbeats. cause i have felt palips just before a pause and i have had palips with a normal rythym, but i will bring it up tomorrow.

one other thing i need to tell him, twice last year i started to feel hot and fever like and had a heart rate of 120-130, first time i went to the er and was let go a few hours later and it happened again and only lasted 2 hours or so....not sure what happened there but when i went to the er they took a chest xray and blood tests and showed nothing wrong besides high white blood cells and a spec in my lung which they gave me medicine for.

UPDATE--

went to see my cardio, he said that everything looks ok, just an electrical problem, but is upping my dose of verapamil to 240mg and see if that reduces the amount of pvc's i get a day, and after a week of taking this i gotta have a holter monitor put on.....what is that like? im kinda freaked out, but he told me not to worry. what is your guys input

Holtor monitors aren't a big deal.. More annoying than anything else! lol They put little electrodes all over your chest, like they do when they do an EKG. Then they hook them to a small box device that goes on your pants waist. You have to write down whenever you get symptoms and what you were doing when you got them, and the time.. The worst thing about the holter monitor is that the electrode things are itchy.;)

well thats a relief, my cardio is putting it on cause i have a few hundred pvc's an hour and he is testing the new meds he put me on to see if they work, so i have to be on the meds for a week before my holter.

it records your heart beat for 24 hours.it just a box and you have wires on.Do you have high blood preasure? If not how does those blood preasure meds work for fast heart beat and low bp?

I have the same feelings ... the longest my heart stopped for (at least when I was checking my pulse) was 4 full seconds

look at my post on my problem for the full details

not sure, my BP is elevated, today it was 133/85, prolly cause i was nervous, but these meds im on now will only block calcium and sodium to see if blocking those will set my heart right. if not im going on beta blockers. my only issue is that it seems that the faster my heart goes, ie working out and running, the pvc's vanish, im not sure if beta blockers would work'

question, Is Verapamil Safe? i am taking 240 mg (i'll let you know how it goes after a couple days) and i was taking 120mg for 2 years (dident work at this dose) and i randomly started reading how people were dying from taking this drug, it could be a fluke or a bad combo or they were dying anyway, but im concerned bout this and my doc is not reachable besides thursday...help?
