I am currently in a flare with my psoriatic arthritis, but this time I am worried as my muscles are hurting badly, in my arms, and hands and my feet, not only are the joints hurting but my muscles are hurting, to the point where lifting my arms and legs feels like I have concrete weights on them. I have never had this before, has anyone else? Would arthritis do this? I am seeing a new rheumatologist on Monday, and cant wait as I feel like a ninety year old and I am only 50.

Hi Bevann,
thanks for your reply, yes I have been to the new rheumatologist this week and I am much happier, he was excellent, looked at all my joints from head to toe, removed some fluid from my knee, and has put me back on Leflunomide, running alongside Arcoxia, and Pariet (for my stomach) and he wants me to take amyltriptiline as well for the pain. He also mentioned fibromyalgia, which would account for the muscles, but I dont know anything about fibromyalgia, have to look it up on another board. I have started all the drugs and feel much better all ready, not so stiff and in not so much pain. He said he would consider anti tnf once he has my bloods back and he took xrays of my fingers, feet and chest and wants to look at them. I will see him again in June and must take these drugs meanwhile. Feel a lot happier that someone is taking an interest in my problems. Does fibromyalgia make you xtremely tired, and do your feet hurt?

Ronnie :)

Ronnie, have you been tested for Lyme disease? Everything that you have mentioned can be caused by Lyme, even the psoriatic arthitis and fibro symptoms, and the knee is usually the main joint effected by Lyme disease, check out the Lyme board. Most people that have Lyme are misdaignosed for years before they finally find the real cause of all their different symptoms that just don't quite fit into one syndrom. Good luck, Sarah

Ronnie,
Have you had your thyroid checked? I had the same problem. I ached all over, felt like I had a bad case of the flu. No fever in fact my temp was subnormal. A sign of hypothyroid. The tiredness goes right along with it as does hair loss.
All the muscle pain went away after being treated for hypothyroid.
I hope you get an answer soon. Good luck to you.
Ellemae
