My 2yr old grandson is in daycare so his Mom can go to school, he now needs his MMR. I've done some research regarding the link of the vaccine to Autism. I guess my question is should we or shouldn't we get the vaccine and is there any way we can get an health exemption and keep him in daycare?? I find this increase in Autism to be very alarming. When my son's were little and needed their vaccinations I was never concerned b/c the rate of Autism was never that high. My sons had there MMR in the 80's. Are the vaccines tainted or is it a genetic disorder. I would think in the year of 2007 we would have more information as to why this happens.

Thank you for your input.

No one knows for sure why some kids react and some don't. Because you're in Texas, you can get an exemption from vaccines. Write a letter to the Texas Department of Health asking for the exemption form and they'll send it to you. They are very fast. The website has all of the specifics that need to be in the letter.

We've done this for years and the schools accept it with no problem. The daycares should accept it, too.

One theory in regards to the MMR and autism is the three vaccinations together are too overwhelming to the baby's system. Some believe that some children are genetically predisposed to developing autism and the combination of the three can be the trigger to the neurological system. You may want to research getting the three vaccines seperately.
Good luck with your decission.

I"m not for or against vaccinating I chose to and I didn't do them individually. For those of you who are new I'm still unsure if my son is or isn't on the spectrum. He seems to have red flags from each area of the spectrum. He's mainstreamed and has strouble with his peers but not children older than himself that he attributes to the noise level bothering his ears and his SID problems.

Anyway back to the vaccinations FYI there was a recent report that in NYC there has been new cases of measles cropping up in the schools. So for those of you thinking that the diseases don't exist or are very rare. You may want to rethink that. Best of luck it's a tough decision either way.

MY gs is mild SID from what---well, I have my suspicions and it is not all vaccine related.

Red measles is a Horrible disease and can cause death, brain damage and blindness. If there is any way to do the vaccines separately do that. Eventually our children MUST be vaccinated. An adult with Red measles would probably die. Illegal aliens are bringing in all manner of disease to this country, just so you know. and all of our attempts to eradicate these childhood diseases is now going for naught. If too many children go unvaccinated and these diseases get a foothold, well look out.

And I am not exaggerating. Young mothers who were vaccinated in the 70s and 80s simply have no concept of how horrible whooping cough, polio, TB and the measles and mumps were in the 40s and 50s.

I can remember the red measles and the mumps back in the 50s.
Bad...my mom had to cover all the windows to protect our eyes --I remember how much our eyes hurt.

As for your son and his ears---my gs is going to a neuro-sensory doc (An ENT) and he said my gs's nerves in his ears were horribly inflamed. He did a hearing test and my gs is hearing sounds no human should hear. This inability to filter out unnecessary noise causes him difficulty in the classroom.

So you should have your son's hearing checked with one of these more sensitive tests. My gs is now on anti-inflammatories and antivirals for a couple of months. they will be checking his metal levels to see if they should do chelation therapy.

This is a complicated condition and a strange time for our children. they are not only inundated with new info but it is coming in the form of computers and games and tv programs and too much to do at school. Poor things. If they don't have their wits about them, they fall thru the cracks.

Thanks we have an appointment with an ENT next week because he has horrid allergies that progress into sinus infections over and over but I hadn't thought to mention his sensory issues to the Dr. What exactly is chelation therapy?

I think it's really important that you shared your experience with the childhood diseases because I believe you're right that we haven't had to deal with those types of epidemics that we've let down our guard. I believe in a parents right to choose to not vaccinate but I think that child should be h ome schooled for their safety and everyone elses.

"Infection of a pg mother by Rubella virus (German measles, or 3 day measles) during first 20 weeks can be serious; the child may be born with birth defects. "
Before we had that vaccine, if you were early in pregnancy you just stayed away from young kids, because the virus would affect you before the kids were even sick.

Back in the 70s, during an outbreak of rubella or chicken pox in our community or school, pg women would hide-out, frankly... The vaccine was a godsend. I can remember women being exposed to Rubella and finding out the next week they were pg! Terrible. Naturally some of these babies were born deaf, or blind or missing a limb, or sometimes nothing was wrong.

As for chelation: We just found out this week my gs has 12 different metals in his body. (bloodstream, tissues, brain? I am not sure where these metals hide...) however, none of the levels is high enough for a 5 year old to go thru chelation therapy. But doc has recommended certain prescription liquid vitamins and minerals as a treatment to get these metals to leave the body naturally.
It seems that a regimen of particular vits and mins helps the body cleanse itself of these metals. I guess we all have them and they come from a variety of sources. But my daughter was shocked --how in heck do these metals attach themselves to us?

I guess he will be tested again in a few months. I know for adults chelation is done thru an IV but I don't know how they do it for kids.
My question would be--once chelation is done, is that it? Or do you have to keep monitoring that, cuz who knows how the metals are being delivered into the body? I wonder if our water is high in toxic metals?

These metals are in our dental fillings, all vaccine (yes, even mercury is traces) deoderant, processed food, beauty products, chemicals trails in the sky contain barium, and if the water doesn't it will eventually because the new CFL lightbulbs contain mercury and eventually will seep into the ground because many do not realize this and throw them away in the garbage. The goal is to minimize the exposure by using real natural products and getting back to basics. Chemicals do not belong in the body, they sit in our tissues until we become, diseased, cancerous, or sick. Some people it can effect them right away, hence why many believe vaccines are the cause of autism. They are overloaded with chemicals and this is the result.

If you do vaccinate with the MMR, it is advised that it is broken apart into three separate shots being a good 6 weeks apart from one another. Building a natural immunity in general is best for the health, you are providing the body with the tools it needs to fight and heal.
