Hi all, I am very impressed by the quality of replies to questions posed on this forum. I am hoping I can get some good advice.

I have rheumatoid arthritis (RA) since I was 20 and am 45 now. Over the last few years my feet have started paining a lot. I have a regular (RA) doctor and have visited two podiatricians. The PODs tell me that I need to have surgery to remove part of the bone in most of my toes and fuse the big toe. They tell me that the mobility will be diminished but this is the preferred treatment nowadays.

Any suggestions, advice, experiences, alternatives will be really nice. Please help me.

I would consult a foot and ankle orthopaedic specialist as well. When you start talking about bone work you are better served by an orthopaedist, in my opinion. But make sure it is a foot and ankle specialist. I would also ask how much experience they have had with RA patients. Let us know how it goes for you.
