Probably. Usually you sign a contract with the lawyer which states how much he gets if you win. Mine is a percentage up to a certain amount. Can't remember the amount.

Mine said I might have to pay something, but i never had to pay anything, and not upfront.(except what he got in back pay)

he got his 25% back pay, i think that was the %.
I think I understood it as if I wasnt getting any back pay then I would have to pay for the medical records and ect...
Because they wouldnt have gotten anything If I won the first go round, and they would be out that money.
But I did end up getting some back pay(well still waiting for it)
But they have already paid him. (ss has)

My attorney will be paid 25% fee from my back pay (which I have yet to receive), and sent me a bill for about $80 for other miscellaneous expenses. The lawyer's office told me not to pay anything until I got my back pay.

They took out $5,300 out of my back pay for my lawyer and then I had to pay an additional $60 for all of my medical transcripts.

I actually brought all my records to the lawyer. Did most of the work myself. I also have a workman comp case. Every time he needs records, he sends me a letter and tells me to write a check to the doctor's office. So that is not included in the comp case. In the SS case I think it should be. Why do they get the money? Just for filing the case?
