i know this seems alittle out of the way but is it possible to go to a doctors office one day and u have a heart cath and the doctor says that you have nothing wrong with your heart. and die the next day from a heart attack?

My reply would be yes. You could suffer complications from the test and doctors are not always right!!!

I would think that would be pretty unlikely. Yes, there could be a complication as a cath carries anywhere between a 1 -3% risk of complication. If there were no complications and the cath was normal, then your arteries are clear. Is it possible to have a heart attack given these circumstances, possibly. Some heart attacks are caused by spasms of the arteries supplying blood to the heart muscle which could result in a heart attack and this is not the kind of thing a cath would find. Also, a plaque could rupture or a clot could form from another organ and end up in the heart causing a heart attack. I would think these scenarios would be very rare indeed. A normal cath means your arteries are clear of plaque build up which would mean your other arteries would most likely be clear as well. Also, it's not easy to miss-interpret a cath, either the arteries are blocked and no blood flow is seen or they're not.
I think a negative cath would be very reassuring.
Good Luck,
Jon

It's possible but not likely.
